An array of tainted Chinese products, including toxic toys, toxic toothpaste, inflammable clothes, poisoned pet food and contaminated medicine were discovered across the globe in recent months causing importers and consumers alike to question the quality of goods coming from China. I can't help thinking that had pets not died we'd never know about all these other things.

Unless the U.S. imposes stricker requirements by higher FDA and other exporting restriction on China, this will continue.
Want to bring China to her knees? Restrict the importation of all food stuffs, any children's toys, crockery, and clothing.
Bet they’ll change their tune very quickly.

I’d settle for “country of origin” labeling. A nice 1 inch by 2 inch sticker stating which country a particular product was made in. But, ironically, the “free traders” who are all for trade with communist china are also in favor of restricting the flow of information to prevent their duplicity from being discovered.
But hey, if we can ban all trade with China, that would work out really well.

They are if you get them before they put them in that dehydrator case. :P
That’s luck of the draw though unless you happen to be in the store when they are putting fresh in, which we’ve been lucky enough to do a couple of times. Otherwise, it’s probably a good idea to avoid them as you found out.

Hmmm. Very interesting. There is a Hallmark store right across the street from me. Perhaps I should become more intimate with the routine there... I have not been there much since during the Beanie Baby craze. I spotted these beanies I thought were so cute but the manager would not let me buy two! I was astounded and I sort of went on strike. They were so precious he was doling them out one to a customer. Hah. Time passed and then he could not give them away. Thanks for the candy tip!
