Romney For President Launches Unprecedented "Create Your Own Ad" Contest
Mitt Romney for President ^ | 8/29/07 | Mitt Romney press release

Posted on 09/01/2007 3:03:45 PM PDT by Rameumptom

Boston, MA – Today, Romney for President announced the "Team Mitt: Create Your Own Ad!" contest, an unprecedented initiative to create the campaign's new television advertisement by empowering grassroots supporters of Governor Mitt Romney. The winner of the contest will become the first amateur ever to have his or her work used as an official television advertisement for a presidential campaign.

By partnering with Yahoo! and Jumpcut.com, supporters from across the country will be able to utilize an innovative video editing platform to create their own ad by remixing or "mashing up" a large variety of the campaign's photos, videos and audio clips, as well as their own multimedia content.

After the contest's submission period ends on September 17, the campaign will conduct online voting at MittRomney.com to help select the winner of the contest. The ad will air in conjunction with the campaign's massive grassroots event, "Rally for Romney," during the week of September 20.

Alex Castellanos, Senior Adviser and media strategist to Governor Romney, said, "It is truly groundbreaking for amateur, grassroots supporters to so directly assist in introducing their candidate to the American people. This contest demonstrates Romney for President's commitment to using unique and democratizing online tools to engage voters and harness the extraordinary enthusiasm of its growing team of supporters."

Team Mitt: Create Your Own Ad!

Governor Mitt Romney wants you to make his campaign’s new official TV advertisement. Yes, we’re serious.

Your ad can feature Mitt’s biography, his family, his record as Governor, or his agenda for a stronger America. In fact, your ad can have practically any theme you choose as long you support the campaign creatively and responsibly. Your ad MUST be either 27 or 57 seconds in length to make room for those much-loved legal disclaimers, in case your entry wins.

How does it work? We’ve provided photos, videos and audio clips to get you started. You can add your own multimedia if you’d like, as long as your use does not infringe on someone else’s copyright or trademark. Then just cut, splice and edit to your heart’s content using Jumpcut’s easy (and free) online tools.

The deadline for ad submissions is September 17th. Get started now by joining the group, reading the contest rules, and then creating the campaign’s next official TV ad!

This is a great idea. It’s creative, innovative and cutting edge, just like America at its best.

Again, the most creative and innovative ideas are coming from Romney and his campaign. Funny to see all the jealous, juvenile and mean-spirited ones (are they mostly Fredheads?) pounce on this thread, like usual.

Actually, he is in 1st place in Nevada, Michigan, Iowa and New Hampshire and nearly tied for second in some national polls. Pretty good for someone virtually unknown just 6 months ago. You guys sound awfully worried, desperate, petty, jealous and uninformned.

I love it....why pay ad consultants all that money when you can pick people's brains for free.....I'm just waiting to see the repercussions from the professionals in his opponents' ads.

And Bill Clinton is called "slick".

Since I wouldn’t vote for him for dog catcher it doesn’t make much difference, that not to say he wouldn’t make a good dog catch, he might even put his son’s to work doing something useful for a change, like cleaning up dog crap.

I like this video for an ad, in it Romney shows his debating skills by proving that he is more pro-abortion than his opponent, Ted Kennedy.

I’d prefer a Federalist to a “creative manager.”

Our nation’s problems do not stem from a lack of governmental innovation. “Better government” is the siren song of socialism. Mitt sings it well.

Whatever you come up with should include Larry “The prairie Fairy” Craig. He is a big time Romney supporter( for obvious reasons).
