Wow! He's a reluctant politician! ALL THE MORE REASON TO SUPPORT HIM!! Hillary has wanted to be president since before she started you-know-what! Is that a good thing? Craving for power and ruthless ambition are positives?

Well said. Reluctant politicians always seem to have the greatest appeal , and seem far more trustworthy .

>>>...”In the Line of Fire,” movies in which he had small but memorable parts playing powerful, world-weary men.

Not a good example on the author’s part. His character nearly got the President killed in “In the Line of Fire”.

;)

That is a great point, one I had not considered. I have to admit I'm not enthusiastic with (what appears to be viable) any candidate at this point.

I have high hopes for Mr. Thompson....this Country needs a good man.

Grin and Bear It: Is Fred Thompson Made of Presidential Material?

Yes. Is Hillary? Obama? No.

No doubt, Her Thighness has a full campaign in the chute ready to be launched, including “trophy wife,” and “actor running for Prez ala ‘Bedtime for Bonzo.’”

Fred would be a great candidate and an even greater President.

I believe the quicker those that actually see through the actor facade, and see the politician behind that the better...

I mean its hard not to know about his acting career, but his experience as an actual elected official, not a dog catcher function, but a US Senator, would be a good thing to start paying attention to and getting up to speed on...

There are a few burbles that some may or may not like about what he did representing Tennessee, but hey, for the most part, not a lot bothers me about the guy...

Thats just my take on it...

Its going to be a little hard in the primaries for most in this country...Those top three tiered (anointed by the MSM) GOP candidates in my book don’t have a chance in hell...And they know they are in trouble...They’ll blow it off as long as possible, but we’ll see how it goes...

Good thing about my area...There is not a lot of campaining needing to be done...

I pretty much have my list done...

Is Fred Thompson Made of Presidential Material?

I'm seriously doubting it.

He neatly avoids the upcoming debate; and, if he's afraid of debates, he can't beat Hillary.

I like the man personally, but I'm doubting he's up to the tasks - both of running a campaign, and of executing the duties as President.

Just opinions based on instinct. I could easily be wrong, here.

Thompson LOOKS like a President and he can obviously ACT like a President.. With Newt Gingrich or Duncan Hunter as VeeP he probably can even BE President..

Hitlery and Bubba would be a Democrat Corrupt Enterprise.. Marketing the Presidency.. even more than George Bush is NOW to employers of illegals and the Mexican Drug Cartels(i.e. Government).. ..

I like Thompson's attitude about these stupid primary rituals that have become commonplace in New Hampshire, Iowa, and elsewhere. I don't remember John Kennedy or Teddy Roosevelt flipping pancakes or making small talk with butter sculptors.

We're talking about the most important job on the planet. He's not running a theme park here; I think Thompson's annoyance with this type of crap is refreshing.

That’s Fred’s basic appeal. He’s not a power mad, narcissistic, type A personality. You can imagine him mowing the lawn, grilling burgers and hot dogs for his family...in a rumpled shirt and jeans. Watching Buckholz pitch that no-hitter for the Red Sox last night, yelling and waving a beer. (How about that no-hitter!) We know Fred. The South, Flyover country, backwoods Maine, the Northern Kingdom, the West. He’s us. Thank God.

The thing with Fred is that you expect him to tell you the truth, good and bad. No bromides, no campaign rhetoric or pie in the sky promises. The nation’s in great peril, we don’t have time for nuancing nonsense. This goes against the dems’ usual game plan, and maybe it’s a hard sell. But we’re adults, we have to start acting like it, otherwise, we’ll end up with nukes and IED’s on Main St. and whatever other atrocities Jihadists dream up. Imagine the ferocity, the plotting going on with Hillary’s campaign staff? “Get those FBI Files! There’s got to be something we can use!” And frankly, reading the entire Newsweek article, I think Fred really didn’t want to intrude on the Iowa Fair butter artist’s work/attention. (Think Jimmy Stewart.)

Holly Bailey with Richard Wolffe, Eleanor Clift, Eve Conant and Mary Carmichael

Now there's a collection of agenda-driven, biased media-Clintonistas if I've ever seen one.

“he is surrounded by hundreds of star-struck onlookers, many of them “Law & Order” fans who line up three-dozen deep for a close-up with the actor who would be president. Thompson, a sometimes reluctant campaigner, is in full movie-star mode, and has his good-ole-boy charm set on high. All the women he meets are “honey” and the men “buddy.””

*grinning*

he certainly wasn’t senate material....he was walked all over by John Glenn....that’s when he lost me...he’s just an actor probably encouraged by the beast to draw votes from the only GOP’er who can beat her

Fred Thompson does not want to meet the Butter Princess.

I had to read a bit to learn that this first sentence did not refer to a snub of a small-town gal, but a lack of interest in viewing a sculpture made of butter.
