Lightning strikes illegal immigration foe
Orange County Register ^ | Sept. 1, 2007 | GORDON DILLOW

Posted on 09/03/2007 8:04:12 AM PDT by AuntB

Former Anaheim school board member Harald Martin puts it this way: "I've been out there pushing for a long time. When you do that, eventually they're going to get you.

"And I got got."

As you may have heard, Martin resigned from the Anaheim Union High School District board of trustees last week in the face of a recall effort. The recall was largely driven by community activists who have long hated Martin – "hate" is not too strong a word – for his stands against illegal immigration.

And in some people's minds, to be against illegal immigration is to be, by definition, a "racist."

Martin is a 52-year-old retired Anaheim cop who spent years working in some of that city's toughest gang areas. As a community-based officer charged with helping to clean up crime-ridden neighborhoods, he once led a citizens group in dumping steer manure and grass seed in a city park to drive away drug dealers – sort of a "stink 'em out of the park" strategy.

Still, it's discouraging that a politician who is willing to speak out on a critical national and local issue is so quickly – and permanently – branded a "racist." It makes me wonder if other local politicians will hesitate to speak out about illegal immigration.

Because they've seen what happened to Harald Martin.

And they may be afraid of the lightning.

One wonders why he didn't stick out the recall. He may have more friends than he realizes.

The public badgering can be pretty intense sometimes, Carry.

I know, but where does that stand in comparison to "our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor"?

To the stupid perhaps. Once again, illegal alien is not a race.

The way the recall works in this case is that he's already out; just getting the signatures is enough to vacate the office. To get back in, he'd have to run for the seat in the ensuing election. Martin said he wanted to spare the district the expense of that election and let them appoint a successor.

If I were someone of like mind to Martin, I'd consider a recall effort against any board member who was pro-illegal. If I remember, it only take 2500 signatures or so. May as well run the same game on them.

We need to have enforcement nationwide. When the illegals are deported, or leave on their own, we can have our country back.

Years ago, I was pretty ambivalent about the whole thing. But it’s gotten completely out of control. And I want my country back.

The fact that “Illegal Alien” is not a race does not matter to the mob.

Did you check out the comments at the linked story? It supports your contention (in spirit at least), but look at what the story said:

"In any event, Martin lost his re-election bid in 2002, and lost again in another board election last November, coming in seventh out of eight candidates. Nevertheless, he was appointed to fill a vacant seat in July – "Anaheim Union School Board Appoints Former Trustee Who Wanted to Bill Mexico," the Register headline said – which immediately touched off the recall effort that led to Martin's resignation."

It looks as though a concerted effort, aided by the local media, set out to run him out of office - and succeeded.

At any rate, I would have stuck it out, if only to vex the true racists in the community...

This entire illegal alien thing is so out of control. Check this out:

[snips]Human Rights Watch and ACLU also want to know what happened to witnesses to transgender detainee’s treatment while in custody.

But she said the agency spends more than $98 million annually on detainee medical services. She said that all detainees in ICE custody undergo a medical screening and that those with acute or chronic healthcare needs are referred to a physician or nurse practitioner.”

It is axiomatic that “mob” and “fact” cannot occupy the same space. History will record events such as this as the first shots fired in the second (or third, depending on how you count) American Civil War.

Mexican, likewise, is frequently used as a racial descriptor by the educationally challenged. The greater joke is the use of Latino, a cultural descriptor, to denote a racial subcatagory or the use of Hispanic to denote a minority (stress dark skinned and oppressed) when Hispanics are racially classified as a subset of European Caucasoids (white Europeans)

>>Both studies found that immigrants used government services at a greater rate than native-born residents did. The New Jersey study found, for instance, that the typical immigrant family received about $4,044 annually in government services, about 11 percent higher than the average native-born family. At the same time, immigrant households paid about 8 percent less in taxes. The net result was that “the average native household generated an annual fiscal surplus of $232” to government, while “the typical foreign household was a net burden of $1,484.” The gap was even wider in California, where immigrant households produced a net deficit of $3,463 each, because so much of that state’s recent immigration had been in the form of low-wage, low-skill workers.

Though the study did not distinguish between legal and illegal immigrants, it did break down foreign-born households by the regions of the world from which they had come. In both states, the study found the steepest deficit in Latin American households, which in New Jersey consumed 26 percent more in government expenditures than the average native-born family, but paid 38 percent less in taxes. By contrast, immigrant households in New Jersey that hailed from Europe or Canada actually consumed, on average, less in government services than the typical native-born family, and paid nearly as much in taxes. <<

OK, OK; but how do they feeeeel about all this? I mean a mob can only handle so much information. If the truth gets into their consciousness, they stop being a mob and start THINKING. Then where would they be?

Well for starters, they might just feel guilty about sucking up our resources. The mob leaders can't have that, so they just shout the facts down by yelling "RACIST,RACIST, RACIST,RACIST,RACIST,RACIST,RACIST,RACIST, RACIST,RACIST,RACIST,RACIST, Well, we all know how that goes.

Unfortunately, so far, it has worked for them.

He explained on radio, that he was already removed, legal mumble mumble for 5 minutes. He saved the district about $150,000 by his actions. Would a lib do the same?
