The Russians are in the process of claiming oil and mineral exploration rights to territories in the Arctic.

They have already laid claim to territory which is part of Canada, by lowering a subersible to the sea floor and planting a Russian flag in what they said was terra ingognita.

The Russians want to prevent the USA and other Western nations from getting an oil supply in the North which is independent of middle eastern control.

The Russians mean to control all oil in the Persian Gulf, and are involved in the nuclear armament of Iran to get that job done.

The US is there to stop the Russians and their Iranian proxies.

Its quite simplisky.

Control oil prices, get the oil currency changed from the dollar to the Euro, and destroy the US economy, and bring America down.

Thats the Russian strategy.

Simplisky.

As to this Russian Arctic adventure, we need a NATO presence in the Arctic, a few permanant bases up there , and a few nuclear subs on station to interfere with expanding Russian sovereignty.

Maybe have a few accidents with them," Oops! We shot your plain down! Oh that was our automated defence system , you should have told us you were coming."

"Russia would choke on their lunch if we routinely scrambled B-2s to go on excursions up close to the artic...etc..."

Two things:

First, how would they know they were there?

Second, why would you want to give anyone practice targeting our B-2s???

Public knowledge. Google B-2 operational readiness rate.
