Deeply held beliefs are like deeply dug wells. If you have enough money you can dig as many as you want wherever you want them.
Yeah, I guess Romney’s joining the NRA two weeks before he annouced that he was running for POTUS -— after years of publically being pro-gun-control —— was a plausible change in position, too.
Wake up. Romney takes whatever position will get him elected.
In MA, he was a liberal. In the Republican primary, he’s a “conservative.”
He’s a fake.
“Being an economic and not a social conservative. . . “
Watch the end of the video. He’s also pro-affiramtive action and pro-all sorts of new absurd “glass ceiling” regulations.
His imposition of HillaryCare in MA was also a disaster.
Romney was way too along in his political career to have such a dramatic change in his political positions.
And he also has impressive private sector experience — something that precious few candidates have anymore.
I agree with you. He was running for office in a very liberal state.. I dont understand these purists.. what do they expect from people... no Republican should ever run for office in a Lefty bastin? Not very smart.
“Romney was way too along in his political career to have such a dramatic change in his political positions.”
Good point. If it was ONE thing, that would be something, too, but it’s a sudden change in ALL the fundamental positions of conservatism.
It’s just TOO convenient -— and too clearly fake.
bump
Purest? He’s been on the wrong side of fundamental conservative issues -— until he decided to run for POTUS.
I expect a liberal RINO from a liberal state. Arnold, for example, is fine. But he doesnt’ pretend to be a conservative.
Pretending to be a conserative -— with these obvious fake changes in positions -— are what makes Romney so disgusting.
By your name, I assume you are a “government shrinker.”
So I guess you think Romney’s imposition of HillaryCare in MA was a bad idea?
He was running as a Republican in MA, he dove to the middle to appeal to as many voters as he could. The middle in MA is the solid left here in Indiana, his speech would have been very different given in the Midwest instead of the east coast if he was running there.
What ever do you mean? We should accept candidates who change their positions, based on the office they want?
I’ll never in a million years vote for Rudy, but I can at least respect the fact he isn’t changing his positions based on wanting to become President.
That’s a devastating video. We can count on Romney to lead us wherever he thinks we want to go . . . no principles. Any conservative voting for him is getting suckered.
“He was running as a Republican in MA, he dove to the middle to appeal to as many voters as he could. The middle in MA is the solid left here in Indiana, his speech would have been very different given in the Midwest instead of the east coast if he was running there.”
So basically, you’re saying Romney has no moral compass, just says what it takes to get elected?
If it was up to me, the federal government would not be paying a penny for anyone’s medical care except seriously injured military veterans, and state/local governments wouldn’t be paying for anyone except people who are severely and permanently physically and/or mentally disabled. I recognize the reality, though, that such standards won’t be politically viable in the foreseeable future, and that when governing an over-the-left-cliff state like Massachusetts there’s only so much the governor can do. The trouble with popular, direct vote democracy is that elected officials have to go along with the desires of the majority of their constituents or they’ll just be replaced by someone who will.
blah blah blah
People change. I’m glad he changed my way.
*U.S. troops where those who remained would take on a “support role” away from the front-lines.*
This from his statement on the war.
Helloooo! Front-Lines. That was WWII
The wars we have been fighting the past many years don’t have Front-Lines.
But what do you expect from Mitt, a guy who never served in the military nor any of his 5 sons.
