Global Warming - Man-made or Natural
Hillsdale College - Imprimis ^ | August 2007 | S. Fred Singer

Posted on 09/04/2007 6:27:09 PM PDT by Rockwarf

"Human activities are not influencing the global climate in a perceptible way. Climate will continue to change, as it always has in the past, warming and cooling on different time scales and for different reasons, regardless of human action. I would also argue that—should it occur—a modest warming would be on the whole beneficial.........

We can only trust that reason will prevail in the face of an onslaught of propaganda like Al Gore’s movie and despite the incessant misinformation generated by the media. Today, the imposed costs are still modest, and mostly hidden in taxes and in charges for electricity and motor fuels. If the scaremongers have their way, these costs will become enormous. But I believe that sound science and good sense will prevail in the face of irrational and scientifically baseless climate fears."

I thought this article by Professor Singer was well reasoned.

No kidding. Lower fuel costs and use, a longer growing season, no more poor homeless people freezing to death on the streets,.....

Um, actually, just the first two. You can't grow crops in the snow.

Yep, it’s crazy, but IT JUST MIGHT BE THE SUN that’s involved with all this warming up stuff.

Ditto. I’ve quoted Fred Singer on FR. He’s a great source.

Following is a contribution from the most recent e-newsletter for emeritus members of Sigma Xi, the national honorary association of research scientists:

FOOD FOR THOUGHT by Eugene D. Richard The following is the result of 35 years of labor and 17 copyrights along with various papers delivered to various meetings such as Sigma Xi and the American Geophysical Union. There comes a time in a man's life when he should blow his own horn and I am 88 years old and if I don't blow it now, later might be too late. Therefore I will blow my horn to the tunes enumerated below:
1. I discovered how the earth magnetic field is formed.
2. A magnetic field is due to charges in motion.
3. Repeated ionization and separation of charges and with the rotation of the earth there will be produced two magnetic fields. One field due to electrons will produce the Normal field, and the other field would be the Reverse field.
4. The Normal field would cause a motion on the positive charges, due to positive charges cutting magnetic lines of force just as in a mass spectrometer.
5. This motion of positive charges will contribute to the internal heat of earth and account for global warming.
6. When the field reverses this source of heat is no longer present then global cooling will begin.
7. Global heating and global cooling are due to conditions in the interior of earth and not to conditions that we can control on the surface of the earth.
Eugene D. Richard (Emeritus, inducted 1980) offers additional information on his theories at http://www.earthsgeomotor.com. He currently lives in Slidell, LA.

Another interesting theory that AlGore wouldn't like.....

Yep, it’s global warming..........
and nope, we can’t do anything about it.
Happens every few thousand years....get used to it.
