Once upon a time, Ted Kennedy could count on his daily dose of veneration. The right wing hated the Massachusetts Democrat, but progressives honored him as a defender of old-school liberalism.
In a remarkable turnaround, liberals are now heaping scorn on the 73-year-old senator. Young audiences boo at his name, and the leftish "Daily Show" on Comedy Central makes fun of him.
The source of unhappiness is Kennedy's efforts to kill an offshore wind farm on Nantucket Sound. Cape Wind was to be the first such project in the United States and a source of pride to environmentally-minded New Englanders. Polls show 84 percent of Massachusetts residents in favor. But now it appears that America's first offshore wind farm will be near Galveston, Texas.

All of the glitterati of Cape Cod and The Islands (Kennedy,Kerry,Cronkite,Carly Simon,Ted Dansen, etc) are against it for obvious reasons.

I love it when LibTards finally figure out that the monsters they’ve created DON’T have their best interests at heart. :)

The towers would be at least five miles out and barely visible from shore on the clearest day, but the summer plutocrats resent any intrusion on their waterfront vistas and, equally, any challenge to the notion that they control everything.
"But don't you realize that's where I sail!" may stand as Kennedy's most self-incriminating quote

So according to the Providence Journal, only "right wing" people abhorred this?

Too early for such a picture, my breakfast is rolling in my stomach.
Too bad the wind towers bother Teddy, its not all about him or those stars. They should be put up.
Do you really think he CAN sail a boat? He looks too out of shape to me to be doing much more then stuffing his face & drinking his booze. He really annoys me.

FWIW, from what I understand wind farms are a very inefficent way to generate power. That said, I wouldn’t rule out their use entirely. For a place like Martha’s Vineyard, a windfarm might make a lot of sense. Not that The Swimmer cares.

Daily Show had a spoof about all this; sadly the vid
got removed from YouTube due to copyright concerns.
It had a JAWS spoof and also some shots of the huge mansions in Hyannisport—”no wait, that’s the _maid’s_ house...”
Showed how lib fatcats like Kennedy have a NIMBY situation
when it comes to wind power.

Im no enviro-nut but I do like the idea of wind farms. If the enviro-nuts have their way, we will have wind and solar all over the place, just not in their back yard.
This is why I like coal and nuclear power. There are a lot fewer back yards encroached upon and they run when you need the power, not when it wants to.
Wind and solar have their place as supplemental and niche power sources. We should continue to develop these and improve their output and lower their cost. However, they are not going to provide the amount of reliable 24-7 power we need in the near future, even with improved output and demand side conservation. The gap is just too large.
