“the primary reason they create a fiscal deficit is their low education levels and resulting low incomes and tax payments, not their legal status or heavy use of most social services.”
I do appreciate the ping, khnyny! Ping me anytime!
But, if they’re paying taxes on low incomes, it’s revenue we wouldn’t have had if they hadn’t entered illegally. There’s no way it’s more of a loss than what we pay in entitlements. $2700 per household?!
CIS is perhaps not the most unbiased source for the data here, but it takes a really long time to research it through the state .orgs and they aren’t ever very current compared to CIS.
The true numbers are probably about double what CIS reports, just as they reported 11 billion illegals in 2006 and the number is closer to between 22 and 30 billion.
You’re right! Unless an illegal family is making more than poverty level, they pay no taxes and still receive welfare and child credits.
Cheap Labor ain’t
They most certainly do use more in entitlements then they could ever pay. Take free meals at school. In my childs school it is $2.00 per day for breakfast and the same for lunch. If you are on a free lunch program you are entitled to both. Times that by 180 school days that is $720.00 per child, just for food.
A well visit or sick visit to the pediatrician is about $100.00 per child. Dental visits range between $60.00-$100.00. I am quoting just walking through the door, no extras, such as tests, vaccinations, medication, etc.
Childbirth, back when I had my kids, a low risk birth was around $4000.00 (16 yrs. ago), then you have medicare kick in for newborn, well visits every month or so for the first 6 months and then vaccines. Add to that WIC, the cost of formula is so high that some places need it to be locked up because of theft. WIC will provide for formula, milk, cheese, cereal, eggs, peanut butter, beans and oj.
Lets be conservative and say that these families only have 2 children. These costs are no where near $2700.00 per year.
Rockbridge Elementary School in Norcross GA is 60% Hispanic, children eligible for free lunch is 88%. Guess who is paying for that?
