Chuck Schumer, senior Senator from New York and self-described member of the Democratic leadership team in the Senate, really knows how to make friends and influence people.
This morning, in a speech on the Senate floor, he explicitly told the U. S. Marines in Anbar province that they've failed and are a part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Let me be clear. The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al-Qaeda said to these tribes, "We have to fight al-Qaeda ourselves."
It wasn't that the surge brought peace here, it was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here and that was because there was no one else there protecting. (Emphasis in original.)

While waiting to testify in a hearing room in the Rayburn Building Schumer's staff brought in a Marilyn Monroe look alike to sing to him for his birthday. She was sitting on his lap, petting the top of his head and singing the "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" song. He was grinning like a split water melon until he saw there were others in the room. He then became indignant and publicly scolded his staff. What an a$$hole!

It's a long article, but the author breaks down all the objections of the Left. Amazingly, Shumer's reasoning is one of the arguments the Left uses to proclaim failure.

Does it not baffle you that this state has a propensity to elect scumbags and idiots.
Is it possible for any fearless Republican to insist the words be taken down? If it doesn’t work, at least it may generate some discussion for the viewers of CSPAN to digest.

I’ve heard that Chuck was the class valedictorian in HS. I hear that a group of grads are currently trying to get a memorial plaque posted in his school in honor or those who served in the Armed Forces. I wonder if he will assist them? I’m sure if they bring a camera, he may suddenly appear at the dedication.
