Geez when I was a kid they handed out tracing paper and cool coloring pencils and told us to make maps. Maps of states, regions, continents, the town, the playground, treasure maps, pirate maps, maps of the moon, maps of imaginary places.
I still know where stuff is (although some names have changed) and still know how to read a map.
And it was loads of fun, sigh. Schools are prisoner re-education camps now.
So you know where the TREASURE is?! I'll help you find it if you are willing to go half! :)
Hey Valpal. I’m getting my Masters in Education and I’ll tell ya, it’s tough to sit in class while various profs attempt to school me in diversity and gender bias.
In class the other night, my prof. began his lecture by asking “What makes a great teacher?” The answers ranged from “sensitivity” to “kindness.” The prof. was eating it all up with a spoon. I thought I was going to scream. Instead, I raised my hand and said I believed strong classroom management skills and knowledge of the subject matter they were teaching made for a great teacher...the silence was deafening.
I guess what I’m trying to say here is that OF COURSE teachers should be kind to their students and respectful of their students and sensitive to the needs of their students. But in this day and age sensitivity trumps actual teaching, and the result is that pretty young girl who is just dumb as a stump.
