That’s not my position. I was arguing against that position. I’m just saying that it wasn’t a completely ignorant statement. Many liberals think we are wrong to call ourselves Americans.
If anyone doubts what you say, they need only go to the discussion boards at The Guardian. It's been that way there for at least 8 years (that I know of). They refer to citizens of the USA as "USA'ians." The loony left thinks it is wrong for us to call ourselves "Americans" -- they think that belongs to everyone from the North and South American continents (and Central America, too). Nevermind that the citizens of those other countries prefer to call themselves something else. I never have figured out why that is important to them to take that label away from us and dilute it. (Theories or explanations, anyone?).
