Smiths computers destroyed on same day he was evicted by protesters
By CHARLES WEBSTER
HAMILTON A band of rowdy war protesters invaded the township office of U.S. Rep. Chris Smith last week on the same day that wires were ripped from the offices computer equipment.
No one is flat-out blaming the activists yet but the coincidence is enough to prompt an investigation.
We dont know who did this, thats why weve contacted the authorities, Smith spokeswoman Mary Noonan said yesterday from Washington. But we do know who was in the office that day.
The computer vandalism brought the constituents services of the employees to a grinding halt.
Shortly before the problems began, three constituents were in the office talking to Smith employees about various issues, but it was also around the time that a group of uninvited anti-war protesters barged into the office and disrupted the work of employees in the office.
The Trentonian found two videos of that meeting posted on YouTube that show the group inside the office.

The videos are entertaining, if you want to see a babbling bunch of modern-day merry pranksters ranting incoherently at a foreign woman wearing a Smith mask.
But what is going on in the background of the video footage may interest investigators because it shows the movements of the anti-war protestors inside the office.
Its very suspicious that the computer systems were working without a glitch before the 23 or so people showed up, only to be totally inoperable after they left, Noonan said.
Smith had previously met with the anti-war protesters in 90 minutes to discuss their differences on the war in Iraq.
It was a frank and open discussion with Chris and the group, Noonan said.
The videos show the group protesting outside Smiths township office and their mock eviction of the congressman after they took over the office.
The group can be heard shouting down an office employee who is asking the group to leave so that employees can get back to work.
Less than 30 minutes after the group left Smiths office, employees started having serious problems with their computers.
Congressional computer technicians were called in to help solve the problem, but could not uncover any problems remotely from Washington. An inspection of the computer equipment in a centralized area within the office revealed wires that were pulled out of computer equipment like printers and router hubs.
Computer ports were empty that werent supposed to be empty, Noonan explained.
She alerted Capitol police in Washington of the situation. Once the system could not be brought back on-line because of the damage, Capitol police advised Smiths office to call the Hamilton police.
Hamilton investigators couldnt comment on the situation last night, but they are expected to release information about the vandalism and subsequent disruption today.
Its a shame because its our constituents who have been hurt the most, Noonan said yesterday. Someone has disrupted our ability to better represent our constituents.
the peaceful left - well it did not work in the 60’s either and they rioted across the campuses of American.
Party of violence and death.
‘bout time Cartman opened a can of whoop a$$ on those hippies.
Two salient characteristics of war protestors are cowardice and a propensity towards cheap vandalism.
Well heck.
I don’t know.
Might be coincidence.
Just don’t know about it.
Is this something hippie wanna-be’s would do?
Hm.
They are usually pretty peaceful.
Is this the way they usually behave?
Might be out of character for them.
I’m just, plain conflicted here.
Can anyone help out?
I simply cannot make up my mind.
Would these kind of people do this?
\finger-bending sarcasm turned painfully off
I couldn’t get more than halfway through the first video — those drooling moonbats are so mentally defective that I could not stand to listen to them. Peaceful, lawful protest is fine, but they have crossed the line into various forms of illegality and they ought to get “the book” thrown at them. Hope the videos can help with IDs, etc. but knowing how these scumbags are usually coddled I won’t my breath expecting to see any prosecutions.
Those who refuse to support and defend a state have no claim to protection by that state.
Killing an anarchist or a pacifist should not be defined as “murder” in a legalistic sense.
The offense against the state, if any, should be “Using deadly weapons inside city limits,” or “Creating a traffic hazard,” or “Endangering bystanders,” or other misdemeanor.
LAZARUS LONG
I wouldn’t go that far, but I see where you feel that strongly about it.
I just read a book about John Wayne where they describe how upset he was about the Watts Riots back in the Sixties...he thought the government should have gone in there and used force to put an end to the looting and the burning.
He was labled as a racist for that, but he would have been angry if it had been whites or latinos doing the rioting.
The disregard for the rule of law was what really ticked him off, not the color of their skin.
It’s nothing a good Louisville Slugger kept unobtrusively behind the office door wouldn’t solve.........
LOL...or as Eddie Murphy’s character in “Trading Places” says:
“Officer, may I suggest you use your nightstick on that gentleman.”
Peace vandals ping!
Any chance that Hamilton New Jersey has a Republican congressman? The article doesn’t happen to mention party affiliation. Could Rep. Smith be another Dem who supports the troops and efforts in Iraq?
He is a Republican.
These people are just pathetic-—I can think of no other way to describe them.
