Some crime victims to get U.S. visas
latimes.com ^ | September 6, 2007 | Anna Gorman

The visas will enable the immigrants to work and live in the U.S. and to apply for permanent residency after three years. Ten thousand "U visas" will be available each year, along with visas for family members.

Immigrants are eligible for the visas if they were victims of such crimes as rape, kidnapping or false imprisonment. They will be able to seek the visas retroactively, authorities said.

Why?

You get rewarded for crime even though you may have commited a crime by slinking into the US?

What reward do the rest of us get? A pass to sit in on a session of our congress which appears to be committed-to-dilute the society of the US with the dregs of Mexican and South American humanity?

People promoting terrorism and child abusers can also be victims of crime. Not everyone who is a victim would make a positive contribution to the USA.

Also illegal alien woman who lie through their teeth about being beaten up

Stupid law. They are trying to get illegal crime victims to come forward. Just make it illegal for the Feds to use the information from a crime report for instituting an investigation leading to deportation. That way illegals are free to report crimes without fear. We do that all the time in the legal system (fruit of the poisonous tree leading to exclusion of evidence).

This legislation gives a strong incentive to falsely report a crime, since you get the coveted green card as a reward for being a victim. Rape is already the one of the most common falsely reported crimes (embarrassment, vengence, regret for a bad decision drive it). It’s probably up there with insurance fraud in terms of numbers of false complaints. And this legislation sets up a system where the illegals themselves commit a crime against another illegal, so we have a criminal subculture that reinforces itself.

Senor Bush, I and my entire family have been raped, kidnapped and falsely imprisoned. Can we get out of the detention center now?

They’re just playing the sympathy card.

Since the amnesty did fly not the way they expected, they realize now that they’ll have to take it slowly and do it in increments so we get used to it; just like everything else they want to inflict on us.

There’s no reason to grant permanent residency to *victims* of crime. American victims hardly get to see justice done, much less get rewarded otherwise.

I can see a dramatic increase in “crime” as illegals hire out other illegals to *commit* crimes against them, pretend to be traumatized and viola, instant permanent residency.

What a racket.

Let me get this straight. If two illegals slip across the border, and one rapes the other, the rapee gets to stay here because they are a victim of a crime?

this is part of the AMNESY by segment.

Now to be complete, if a person comes to the USA via marriage to a US citizen and then is physically abused by the citizen, when the time comes to convert the provisional green card to the permanent green card after two years, the legal immigrant can do it herself(or himself) without the citizen applying for them.

Then after three years, like this U visa, they can apply for citizenship.

This is about gaming the system by expanding this to absurd levels. Thus you report your husband/wife/phantom mugger to the police and PRESTO instant crime victim AMNESTY and serial immigration.

Yes, it sounds like that qualifies the 'victim' for a visa that will enable the immigrant to work and live in the U.S. and to apply for permanent residency after three years ... and don't forget that family members qualify too.

Oh good, then as soon as the victim marries her rapist he can be here legally too. Makes perfect sense to me. /s

It is already been happening with spousal visas.

When the marriage is by scam, the spouse disappears long before the two years are up and/or demands MORE money for the conversion of the provisional green card into permanent. This means the provisional visa holder, there is a routine, simply files a police report and obtains a restraining order. Even if only the temp is granted and the permanent later denied, the report and application ALLOWS the provisional visa holder to apply and obtain the permanent visa and then apply (and get) full citizenship.

the USCIS form process is a scam. What is most shocking is the fact the Immigration Lawyers have NEVER BEEN INVESTIGATED for gaming the system like this.

“Immigrants are eligible for the visas if they were victims of such crimes as rape, kidnapping or false imprisonment. They will be able to seek the visas retroactively, authorities said.”

What a wonderful make work program for the police & prosecutors every bureaucrat wins.

Illegals seeking to obtain Visas need only charge some poor goat (Preferably a gringo) with rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment or other such crimes non specified in the article.

Prosecutors who will indict a proverbial ham sandwich could care less...

Some Schmo’s life is ruined and impoverished.. His court appointed atty tells him to plead to disturbing the peace and the Illegal has a basis to stay.

More Bureaucratic gamesmanship in a effort to subvert enforcing the law against illegal immigration.

Rape doesn't have to take place. Just start making accusations

This type of visa has been around for years and is meant to protect people who would face death from criminals back in their home countries. It’s meant to help the victims of human trafficking. Otherwise, they’d end up in a ditch with a bullet in their heads back in their home countries. However, if the foreigner commits a crime while in the U.S., they lose protection from deportation. Also, being in the country illegally is not a crime. Never has been and never will be. Illegally crossing the border is, but mere presence is not.
