I agree. That’s what we need from Thompson. Whatever he is, I don’t think he’s a leightweight. He’ll have answers. They may be off track, but I don’t think he’s the type to not have a plan at all.
Kerry? Well after all...

Freepers are smart enough to separate the facts from the rhetoric. That's why Duncan Hunter will be our next president. Time is on our side.
"Just the facts, Ma'am" (character
Joe Friday, played by Jack Webb,
in the "Dragnet" series).

Americans for Better Immigration lists an array of issues he voted on when he was in the Senate.

I had to laugh last night during the debate when Rudy referred to him as “the actor who played me in NYC.”

Ellery hasn’t posted here yet. You should wait until he does before you make such declarations. NumbersUSA has misrepresented a number of votes of Fred’s quite clearly. They’ve claimed he has voted for things that he hasn’t and they’ve also misrepresented what bills say and don’t say. Ellery has all the details.
I know you don’t care, because I know you don’t have a single principle in your entire warped little mind.
And BTW, how about we put some money on the idea that Duncan Hunter will be our next president? I’ll put up $2500 that says he won’t. Wanna take the action?

There’s a poster who has researched the whole thing and ripped numbersUSA to shreds. I’ve pinged him to the thread, so he can detail his research.

I agree with all those criteria for choosing a candidate. But Fred’s mediocre and indifferent stance regarding illegal immigration is one more factor that should be thrown into the mix.

No. I'm a conservative--not a liberaltarian. I don't want to gamble, buy any prostitutes, drugs, or anything else of the sort, either.

I'll post what I like in comments. NumbersUSA is right, and quotes from the congressional record will support that. ...quotes directly from the Government record, copied and pasted as often as necessary forever and ever thereafter. ;-)

lets elect hillary because freds record on immigration doesnt meet our standards. /s Hillary has nothing to do with the GOP primaries; any of the candidates can beat her, despite the assertions by many around here that only their guy (fill in the blank) is capable of doing so -- a desperate tactic that few fall for.

Immigration is now a hot issue for the base so I don’t take everything said recently by any politician too seriously. I look at the TOTAL PAST RECORD. By the way, it’s Robert Rector from Heritage, not Richter. Also, even the RINOs are now trying to be tough on border security. When Tancredo and Hunter were fighting the good fight - they weren’t to be found!

Because she's so damn off-putting in every conceivable way. By this time next year a sufficient quantity of the electorate will be willing to do anything to keep her out of the WH. Heck, even the Breck Girl might beat her out in the primaries.

No, let’s elect Tancredo or Hunter and let Fred go back to Law and Order.

His voting record on trade reflects his voting record on immigration, BTW.
Fred Thompson:
* Voted YES on extending free trade to Andean nations. (May 2002)* Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam. (Oct 2001) * Voted NO on removing common goods from national security export rules. (Sep 2001)
* Voted YES on permanent normal trade relations with China. (Sep 2000)* Voted YES on expanding trade to the third world. (May 2000)* Voted YES on renewing 'fast track' presidential trade authority. (Nov 1997) * Voted YES on imposing trade sanctions on Japan for closed market. (May 1995)
Fred Thompson:
Fred Thompson voted in favor of the "1997 McCain-Feingold overhaul of campaign finance."
