When it became apparent that Hsu had fled the state, California authorities sought the assistance of the FBI, whose agents arrested him Thursday night on charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, Schadler said. Once he is returned to state custody, the federal charges will be dismissed, Schadler said.

WTF?

Agreed. Remember the Angela Davis case. She was apparently involved in the terrorist murder of a judge in California and took it on the lam all the way to New York. Eventually she was captured and returned to California, tried in the San Francisco-Davis area before an OJ jury, and acquitted. Neither the state or the feds indicted her for unlawful interstate flight to avoid prosecution; hence, they lost their best chance to convict her of something and get information from her about her safe houses and likely accomplices in the underlying crime.

Right now the authorities should pile onto Hsu every charge they reasonably believe he can be convicted of. That way he might be forced to talk and spill the beans on the Witch and the DemonRats.
