I don't know, but I can't help thinking of Ron Paul as a more twisted version of Dr. Strangelove--except in this case, it's "How I Learned to Not Use A Bomb."

Oh, I know. Of course, the Constitution doesn't say anything about this, but I'm sure it emanates from a penumbra or something.

An interesting reference to the Griswold v. Connecticut case--in other words, creating a constitutional right out of whole cloth. A major factor in Roe v. Wade, and the companion case, Doe v. Bolton, securing the perceived right to abortion.

The Libertarian Party is pretty much pro-choice, isn't it? Wasn't Ron Paul the party's presidential nominee a few years back--and now he's Mr. Pro-Life? So what's changed, I have to ask.

He was always pro-life. When he accepted the Libertarian party's offer to run for President under its banner, he made clear to them that the abortion issue was non-negotiable.

I should add to my last comment that Congressman Paul was always pro-life unlike any of the candidates leading him in the polls right now.

Paul is the only pro-life rep who consistently voted against every ban or restriction on abortion on Federal land and overseas military bases.

He voted against the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 — Laci and Conner’s Law and against the prenatal pain law.

He finally did vote for the partial birth abortion ban.

And I believe he is. My curiosity had to do with his connection to the Libertarian party, although there are some in the party that are pro-life like L4L.org, they are in the minority.

Registered Libertarian spokesmen from Browne to Boortz go on and on about "choice" in every facet of life, including abortion, so excuse me if I'm a bit skeptical.

However, you are right: Paul is more pro-life than Rudy and, perhaps, the other poll leaders.

I should add that abortion, euthanasia, and other life issues are certainly big issues with me, and that I don't accuse Rep. Paul of playing politics with that, just with being involved with a party that has been on the wrong side of life issues.

On other issues, yes, we would disagree vehemently, but this is not one of them.

A more interesting question might be, does the self-proclaimed “constitutionalist” believe in our basic founding principles or not?

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

If our CREATOR endowed us with a fundamental “right to life”, (without which there is no such thing as personal liberty or happiness), why did he vote against parental rights of notification for minors seeking an abortion, against interstate travel for underage abortions, against calling the killing of an unborn child during a violent crime against the mother and child, murder?

If Paul believes so strongly in our founding pricniples, then why is he opposed to prayer in school, when we know that the founders opened every school house and library by placing first, a Christian bible on the shelf, opened and closed every public meeting with a prayer?

Why did he vote against school prayer, even in the aftermath of 9/11, when so many Christian Americans were seeking comfort and guidence from their CREATOR?

The man is a fraud! And so are his Jim Jones like followers.

Ron Paul and his supporters are going to make Pat Buchanan look good again. I don’t know what happened to this guy but he (and his supporters) are making more enemies than friends (at least with likely republican voters).

We joke about Osama supporting Dr. Paul but there is some truth in that.

Alex Jones makes about as much sense as he does.

IMHO.
