Remind me again, there was a certain group of people that Reagan brought over to the party. Started with a D....guess they shouldn’t have gotten involved either...
Reagan Democrats, like Ronaldus Maximus himself, were/are patriots and social conservatives. PaleoPaulie’s new friends are antiAmerican, antimilitary, antiwar, and generally either doper libertoonians or outright leftist Demonrats. We can do very well without both categories.
Reagan left the Democrat Party because the party left their pro-American belief structure and became wholly socialistic.
Those “Zell Miller” type Democrats often VOTE Republican as a result. But they don’t switch parties to manipulate the party nomination process to suit their otherwise Democrat views. They simply vote across party lines rather than down party lines.
I have NO problem with someone changing party affiliations for the purpose of adopting that parties fundamental belief system. My problem is with people changing parties for the purpose of changing that parties belief system via temporary manipulation of that party.
It’s called hijacking.
We don’t like it when foreigners come to America and demand America adopt thier belief systems. We demand that they adopt American belief systems if they want to call themselves Americans.
The same is true (or should be) of political parties. If you adopt the belief system of the party when you switch, by all means, come one come all.
But not if you seek to thwart that parties belief system. That’s how we got to a RINO party in the first place.
