Armed robbery is a violent felony. Are police allowed to use deadly force to stop fleeing violent felons?

I believe so.....keyword being “police”. It would be nice if a LEO chimed in to put a finer point on it.

Since the shooter wasn’t a police officer and there’s nothing to suggest that the burglars, as opposed to robbers, were armed, that’s a moot point.

There is his defense, I was making a citizens arrest and used necessary force to apprehend the suspect.

Not even cops can shoot a fleeing felon unless they believe (and better be able to prove) that the criminal was an imminent threat to the cops or the public. Remember the ICE guys who are in jail for shooting a fleeing drug dealer?
