My bet is still that Hsu was funneling money from the Chi-Coms into US political races to get candidates elected who would look favorably on Chinese interests and take no issue with Chinese military expansion, i.e, liberal Democrats.

ChiCom money for sure.

Didn't the ChiComs "steal" a lot of secret technology from our government during the Clinton's previous "administration"??

I wonder if these are still payments on the previous secrets or prepayments on the technology they will have access to during a new Democratic administration.

I assume that the ChiComs have an understanding with all of the Democrats since they seem to be funneling "donations" to many of them.

Now, poor, innocent Hillary has to explain how she used him as a top contributor and bundler without determining what his real sources of income were

I don't see why. I just searched the print edition of today's NYTimes, and could not find a single mention of anything related to Hsu at all. It will probably be removed from the NYTimes web site soon and then "forgotten."

I was at our local grocery store today and one of the newspapers found 3 local companies political contributions that mirror Mr Hsu's contributions. I believe it was an Allentown Pa. newspaper that was investigating this.

Most of our local papers are not typical Liberal Talking point rags, so I'm hoping to here more in the future.

“demonstrate a series of felonies under the election laws”

Sandy Burglar also got caught stealing national secrets and all he got was a wrist slap.

I am not gonna hold my breath waiting on the Bush Justice Department to actually do anything. Instead, the GOP will use it as an election year ploy.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that either. But I doubt anybody will serve time. I guess I can wish, though.

On Friday, a lawyer for Mr. Hsu, E. Lawrence Barcella of Washington, declined to comment on the financial records. He has said that Mr. Hsu never provided money to anyone to make contributions.

Perhaps he reimbursed them immediately after thay had written sort of bad checks. We will always have to parse the words when they involve the Clintons.

John Fund was mentioning today, that the Clintons will not release the names of the people who are connected with this guy.

I know they have to list their donors, but there are over 100,000. That is a lot of names the Feds have to check out and compare with their income.

I wonder if Mr. Hsu will be able to get his 2M$ bail back if he returns to California? Any Ca. legal freeper out there that could answer?

May sound like a silly question, but I believe I read Fed charges of fleeing would be dropped when/if Hsu goes back to California...

On the other hand, by this time in her brief flight across the sky, Runaway Bride was already toast and collectibles on ebay.
So far no such fame for Norman Hsu.

"Based on the previous Chinese donors to the Clintons you can expect some ties to the Chinese intelligence services."

What? What? Maybe...maybe these are Chinese Libertarians. Or the Hong Kong chapter of the Sierra Club. Hummel Collectors of Asia anyone?

Well they didn’t exactly “steal” it.
Bill sold it to them (gladly) for a few mill.

Latest news has it he will be handed over to the county jail when the hospital deems him well enough to be released. A man who can make $2M bail is probably not going to get the heave-ho from any hospital until he’s good and ready.

The NYT was late to this party. They didn’t want to come. I just think they had no choice. This unnamed associate of Hsu’s that produced the juicy one-month financial record probably went to the NYT and said “there’s more where this came from.” NYT could pass and continue to ignore it (which I have no doubt was their first choice) while the guy takes it to the WSJ. If it was going to get out one way or the other, the NYT probably figured they might as well get a piece of the action.

The bad part of the NYT now having this source is that the DNC is no longer working blind. They now have a sneak preview of everything days or weeks before it comes out. Hillary and Cuomo and Rendell et al were blindsided by the WSJ story, which is the only reason it’s stuck so far.

Bad idea. Better that the investigation is handled by the newspapers, blogs and actual law enforcement for now. A congressional investigation by a democrat-run congress would produce nothing but additional cover to this criminal operation.

They’d posture and twist this into a Republican scandal. They’d be entitled to subpoena the records of the RNC and anyone with an R after their name to check for “irregularities”, while having access to the info the FBI and FEC and other invesitigators have on their crooked friends and the connections to China, which they’d then scurry off to disappear any trace of from their own records.
