If you believe anyone with an 85% conservative rating is a fairly acceptable conservative, take it up with your fellow Fredheads. When they stop their blantant hypocrisy, I'll take them seriously.

I was comparing Fred to Hunter who has an ACU of 92, and to the other candidates. You have not said anything that indicates that Fred is significantly less of a conservative than the other candidates.

Yes, many with a high ACU have been bashed here at FR as traitors, like Graham. Now, point out to me specifically how Fred's record puts him in the same boat. The main reason why Graham is hated here at FR is mostly because of his support for the recent shamnesty bill. Fred opposed it.

And BTW....calm down....mindless ranting doesn't score points against Fred.

Hello??? Opposition to Federal Marriage Amendment? Votes for Amnesty? Opposition to IDs to recognize legal immigrants? Opposition to raising fines on employers who do hire illegals?

OPPOSITON TO THE BORDERWALL? Even Sam Brownback and John McCain support that. Fred Thompson joins Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani as the only parties in this race opposed to the wall.

Thompson is at best the 4th or 5th best candidate on the border. At best. honestly, I’d group him right along with Brownback and Huckabee on the issue.

“Because we allowed ourselves to wait until we woke up one day and found 12 million illegals here, there’s no easy solution. And I think that you have to realize that you’re either going to drive 12 million people underground permanently, which is not a good solution. You’re going to get them all together and get them out of the country, which is not going to happen. Or you’re going to have to, in some way, work out a deal where they can have some aspirations of citizenship, but not make it so easy that it’s unfair to the people waiting in line and abiding by the law.”

—Fred Thompson, Amnesty by almost any definition used on this site.
