I would suggest telling your friend that with that attitude, of becoming sheeple, is exactly what got us to this point.

And finally, as another poster stated, use the Socratic method. Just keep asking him questions based on his previous answers until he has talked himself into so many contradictions even he can’t make sense of it.

You didn’t change his mind, you couldn’t have changed his mind no matter what you said. You should have just kicked his ass on general principles and be done with the matter.
Could be you’re the only person who’s had the nerve to challenge this guy. If you don’t tell him the truth who will? Of course, you can’t change the mind of a person like that. I believe the need to share these kind of vicious opinions reflect a bitter angry spirit and only Jesus can help him. But you’ll be an inspiration to everyone who heard you, in spite of the initial discomfort with confrontation. Besides, it’s good practice for when you need to argue with someone you care about.
