Definitely irony if he was listening to it at the time. I take an iPod to the Y when I workout, but I don’t actually put it on until I get to the Y. The article doesn’t say if he was wearing it at the time, I don’t think.
However, my guess is that he was wearing it, but I don’t know if they’ll know for sure, unless witnesses come forward.
