Highlights from Democrat's Univision debate

John Edwards: "Just a few months ago, I was in Canton, Mississippi, as part of a poverty tour, and I met with poultry workers who worked in a poultry plant in Canton, Mississippi. And one of them was a man named Daniel who had been badly hurt on the job. And because of his injuries, he wasn't able to work. And when he asked about trying to get health care or workers' compensation, the first question they asked him was, "What's your immigration status?" This is a perfect example of what's wrong with Washington and why the government is not working for the American people, and not working for Latino families. (Applause.)"

Richardson: "I was under the impression that in this debate Spanish was going to be permitted because I've always supported Univision all my career, but I'm disappointed today that 43 million Latinos in this country, for them not to hear one of their own speak Spanish -- (applause) -- is unfortunate."

Hillary: "I am proud to work with my friend, Senator Menendez, on trying to make sure that in the process of doing immigration reform, we don't separate families, we try to have family unification as one of the goals. So in addition to giving people a path to legalization, we want to make sure their families can come along with them."

Richardson: "Yes, I would [stop the immigration raids], because it shows that -- the fact that a dysfunctional relationship between the Congress and the president caused the breakdown of a potential compromise. Now we have to wait till 2008 and 2009, and these raids are ineffective, they're a symbol of what's wrong with a broken immigration policy."

Edwards: “And it is enormously important that we have comprehensive immigration reform so that those who in fact are working 10 hours a day in 105-degree heat have the same sort of worker rights that other Americans have.”

Make a note: Hillary, like Bush, is the Open Borders, Mass Amnesty, Reconquista Candidate.

Now what’s a guy who’s so badly injured, and can’t work, doing in the poultry plant?

Sounds like Brecky is fabricating or stretching here.

There are many very pretty Hispanic women on all of these Spanish soap operas, Spanish game shows, and Spanish sitcoms, so seeing Hillary Clinton on Univision broke this streak of “muy bonitas chicas”! I also like the Hispanic channels for their soccer and “non-U.S. dominated” sports coverage.

I guess Pander Bears should be taken off the Endangered Species list; we got a shitload here in the US.

There’s no reason why all those families can’t reunify elsewhere.

“There are many very pretty Hispanic women on all of these Spanish soap operas”

There are indeed. And half-white, half-hispanic women are among the most beautiful on the planet. Doesn’t negate the need for the government to enforce our laws. Some involved in the overall debate don’t seem to understand that supporting immigration law doesn’t mean your a racist.

“so seeing Hillary Clinton on Univision broke this streak of “muy bonitas chicas”!”

LOL

I think we should have the next debate in Arabic.

They might actually take it up.

A local school superintendent noted in a “diversity” speech recently that Arabic was the second most spoken language other than English in students homes.

Of course Espanol was first.

And the last debate should be in Chinese, since it is up Hilary’s alley there. =)

Isn’t it demeaning to America to have our candidates debating in a foreign language? Why hasn’t anyone mentioned that? Would that happen in any other nation? Can anyone imagine Mexican candidates debating in English, or German, or French?

I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t want America to become a bilingual nation.

As opposed to poultry workers who work in automobile plants, no doubt.
