To see what the guy looked like in 2001, turn to a cable news network and watch the tape. To see what he looks like now, hold up a cigarette lighter between you and the TV.

They don't call Fox "tabloid television" for nothing.

I work at home fairly regularly, and sometimes leave it running at low volume.

More often than not Fox will spend the entire day harping on three to five sensationalized stories. It is true that their field and affiliate reporting is very thin and quite substandard.

Yes, I also like what Dobbs has to say about the illegal invasion, so I often watch parts of his show. He never misses a chance to bash Bush, though, which is when I change the channel.

Seeing Geraldo on the screen always makes me change the channel, no matter what the venue. I despise that creep.

As for what’s appropriate for children, if I still had youngsters at home, I would be afraid to turn on the TV most of the time. My sympathies to you and all young parents. When my kids were young, I steadfastly refused to get cable because that was when MTV was really getting started, and I had heard about the inappropriateness of their videos. Lordy, that was in the 1980s! Today’s spewing of garbage on that channel is even worse, I know.

I also change the channel when they start talking about Britney or any of the other sluts because I just don’t care, and it infuriates when they give them the attention that they are looking for. Ditto for outrageous comments from any of the Hollywoodenheads. And FOX NEWS is every bit as guilty of this as any are. IMO, FOX’s only true journalists are Chris Wallace and Brit Hume. And Charles Krauhammer, although his role there is really as contributing pundit. I think Julie Banderas is pretty good, although she does tend to argue with rather than interview lefties. While part of my brain is saying, “Go get ‘im, Julie!” another part is saying that she is not being impartial.

Sorry for the long response. I guess I am being too verbose this morning. And I really have a ton of chores to get to....

God bless you and your family.

Thank you for the blessing Bigg Red. It is tough to deal with TV as a parent these days. Even a family show will suddenly have a commercial on it that is inappropriate. I read on another thread that the average age of exposure to pornography on the internet is now 11. On radio, a push of a button can bring up the most vile lyrics.

I think it’s tough to create an age appropriate environment for the kids in this society.
