My question is how they know the DNA could not have come other sources, such as her little sister, who started wearing her clothes after she disappeared. Or Kate's clothes, which you would expect to have Madeleine's DNA all over them.

Presumably because they did not find the sister's or mother's DNA in the trunk but only Madeleine's - and a susbstantial amount at that.

Sorry, guess I didn't make myself clear. What I meant was that Maddies DNA could get into the trunk without Maddie being there because it would logically be on Kate's clothes and Maddie's clothes that are now being worn by her sister. But they claim what was found could only have come from Maddie. I am curious as to how they determine this.
