That’s an interesting and rather right-on evaluation of Gonzalez. And whatever Bush thought he was doing beyond just filling the post in best (non)Liberal tradition with a Diversity Symbol, is irrelevant now. It worked to his disadvantage. THe Republicans never learn. Gonzalez was basically beat up on, relentlessly, NOT for the purported issues that were offered, but BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT DEFEND HIMSELF, and BECAUSE THE PRESIDENT WOULD ONLY DEFEND HIM IN THE WEAKEST WAY. THAT is what you get when you roll over to the Democrat bullies, and frankly , that is what you deserve to get.
