Excellent post...slave labor has always been a profitable affair. Especially if you can raid a public treasury funded by the middle class for the upkeep of the slaves!

And that's exactly what's happening. Profits regardless of consequences.

They are counting their profits from illegal low wage peasants and other profits made from one sided trade deals, on the backs of the American working class.

Please see my comment #57. I think pretty much everyone here understands we run a trade deficit in goods with China.

Responding to the comment that shipping companies of any kind prefer not to run empty with the observation that you see empty ships after being unloaded in Long Beach isn't quite on point, is it?

Well then why is it happening? Why are the Chinese/Asian superstructures coming in loaded down with products and they sail back with scrap metal, trinkets or near empty?

Hmmm...Could it be bad trade deals? Fat cat elites making billions off Communist Chinese peasant labor? Shazamm!

Do you know that for a fact? Because if these ships are sailing back to China (or wherever) empty, then the shipper is being charged for the round-trip by the shipping company.

I think you answered that question yourself.

And, what part of which ports ~ remember, the whole story rested on the idea that a single gantry crane array for international containers constituted a complete "port".

In the public mind that usually encompasses a lot of territory, equipment, many ships, docks and so forth. Fact was about 6 gantry cranes were involved and Dubai was going to pay top dollar for them, but receive a profit of only about $100 per day per operation.

Due to public outcry port security remains in the hands of the Mafia.

No need. The original observation is that shipping companies prefer not to deadhead, remember? If a shipping company is being paid to ship air, that’s not really deadheading, now is it?

There are many commodities shipped just within the United States that result in vast pileups of containers, boxes, hubs and so forth in various places.

One of the better known situations involves US Mail. Trucks, trains and planes take vast quantities of mail to Florida, Texas and the West Coast.

Those places, in turn, ship virtually nothing of reading interest to anybody so the equipment piles up.

USPS has an highly organized equipment return operation that makes sure the empty mail containers get back to places where folks mail stuff.

Fruit shippers have a comparable experience.

I have no doubt that ships from china could be going back much less loaded than they come.

I KNOW the chinese aren’t just leaving their ships here.

I also know a truck is not a ship, and the economics of owning and operating a truck are much different than owning and operating a container ship.

You could likely make money sailing a container ship one way loaded and back mostly unloaded.

You won’t do well as a trucker if you leave your truck behind after each load.

BTW, there are cases where trucks are shipped somewhat unloaded. Watch Ice Road Truckers, and you will learn a bit about the industry in an area where they do tend to drive more stuff one way than the other, although you’ll also see how hard they work to get loads in both directions to make more money.

Running stuff in Alaska is also a much more lucrative (and dangerous) proposition than standard shipping.

Of course, trucks run empty. It’s just not a state that is desirable.

Just for fun, research the causes of the French Revolution. I see a lot of the same crap happening here. I wonder if the hairs on the back of the elites neck stood up before the fighting started.

Interesting thing about those ice road truckers . . . according to the narrator of that program, they are obligated to load a return haul if the shipper requests.

I remember reading somewhere that a ship (unlike some trucks) won't move unless a "backhaul" is assured, leading to my point above that if a backhaul is not assured, the shipper pays for the round-trip.

HOW can anyone defend this president's actions?

Because, like typical liberals, they only think about tomorrow. They don't think about the impact this is going to have a few generations down the road (pun intended).

They will blow a .45 and be set free with a friendly handshake and warning to stay away from the Tequila worm. Meanwhile, across town a 45 year old women was tagged and cuffed for blowing .08 after she had a glass of wine at Chili’s.
