Mitt needs to remember the First Commandment of Ronald Reagan: Thou shalt not bad mouth fellow Republicans!
Now next summer, after the Dims have a nominee, by all means the gloves should come off!

I'm sure there are things the campaign staff does that the candidate would never know about unless something occurs to bring it to the candidate's attention. One person cannot know about and control every single action of a huge, nation-wide campaign staff.
What counts is how the candidate reacts after it is brought to his attention.

Incidents like this remind me of the lawyer who asks leading and personal questions of the witness, then when he/she is objected to and sustained, says "No more questions." The message was still made known to the jury. In these races, we are the jury.

Tompkins, a former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party, is a veteran of Palmetto State politics. He served as President Bush's 2000 Southeast regional director at a time when Bush attacked then-rival Sen. John McCain and defeated him in the state's GOP primary. South Carolina, where that 2000 push poll asked Republicans the following question:
"Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?"
Ah yes, the pinnacle of political campaigning.

Put the site back up Mitt! As for Tompkins, sounds like he was just doing his job, which is hammer away at Fred Thompson in South Carolina. There is nothing illegal, unethical or “dirty” about these tactics. You don’t think the other campaigns aren’t using dirty tricks re: Mit’s religion to derail his campaign in South Carolina? Anyone who pretends that politics isn’t a rough business is either naive or lying.

I only have to say one thing about this: RDS (Romney Derangement Syndrome) has infected many conservatives.
It’s sad. Very sad.

It really sucks that campaigns have to deal with this kind of crap.
Romney did exactly what he should have and I bet he is "gosh darn" mad at the little creep for doing this.
Anybody with any intellectual honesty knows good and well Mitt Romney would never approve of this kind of campaigning. Even people who dislike his politics or his religion know he is an honorable man who lives by a solid personal conduct code.
