According to what I have read this free flow of truck traffic between Canada/USA/Mexico is part of a legal treaty between the countries - and therefore the law.

Therefore it had to have been agreed to by the Senate and signed by the President.

When did all this happen?? and who were the big players??

Actually, I warned everyone on this forum months ago that this was going to happen. My wife’s publication covers a variety of government/industry conferences, and she gets the latest information from the Commerce Department the moment it becomes public. I passed on this bit of NAFTA goodness to other Freepers and the cranks and kooks went berserk, since I inferred that their precious W would, OMG, do something so unAmerican.

They’ve since changed their tune, but, unfortunately, so many really good people have fled FR since then...

Anyway, there’s at least SEVENTEEN more supplemental agreements which have been added on to the original NAFTA, all within the past five years. This truck matter was only the first. You’ll see what the rest are soon enough.
