Did this really happen? I remember during the hearings in the 90's that the Republicans were attacked for being racist against Asians who were just (supposedly) beginning to get involved in American politics.
Fred has a chance now to make up for his weak appearance at those hearings. I have since learned that there were many court cases and convictions after those hearings, but "the American people" did not see that.
