Ditto that. I remember talking to my mom on the phone and saying that very thing to her.

“I was thanking God that algore was not our President.”

I was also. My other prayer was for the families of the murdered and that President Bush would be able to prevent another attack. My anger made me want to use great force against the terrorists and very quickly!

I remember seeing a political cartoon that came out a few weeks after 9/11. It showed a couple sitting on a couch watching TV as President Bush is shown standing tall with the firefighters at Ground Zero, inspecting the wreckage and ruin at the Pentagon, and meeting with the families of the victims.

The wife comments that she sure is glad that Bush is president.

The husband just sits there for a little while before replying, "Shut up, Tipper."

All of you have said that you were very glad we had Bush in office instead of Gore. I heartily agree, and I know I'm preaching to the choir, but here's an aspect I hadn't thought of until today.

Here's a link to the speech the President gave on the 14th, a speech I call "the middle hour."

Imagine what this speech would have been like if Al Gore had given it. That difference alone is stunning to contemplate.
