Just brought the 6 attack-free years up in law class when my teacher was spouting on about all the anti-terrorism laws and how they’re an overreaction.

When I had the same argument with an econ professor, he said "If you were a middle eastern man you'd feel different." I responded, "If the 19 hijackers had all been six foot four Pentecostal Scots-French guys in their thirties, I'd expect to be under suspiscion. What kind of baby watches 19 people just like him kill 3,000 people and think 'How dare anyone hold me under suspicion?'"

He was a smart guy, and a moderate rather than a lib, but he didn't have an answer for that.
