Any college team caught doing it would have probably been banned from postseason play for at least a year.

There have been a number who have been, for less serious offenses than this (rightly so).

Given the effect of even one loss on an NFL team in a wild-card playoff scenario, a forfeit could have potentially had the same effect on the Patriots.

And, this isn’t the first time they were caught doing it.

They got busted last year in a game with the Packers.

At least no I know why I never really thought much of Bill Belichick, despite his record (which is now suspect, BTW).

Fred Mortenson on ESPN said the same thing---that NE won three Super Bowls by a FG, and this calls into question all of them.

Look, I'm a Cowboys fan, and the three teams I hate the most are the three that have, or could, tie Dallas for Super Bowl victories, PITT, NE, and SF. So ensuring these SOBs never get another Super Bowl is fine with me.

But I keep going back to the fact that I don't know if it matters much. Vince Lombardi would virtually GIVE you his playbook, and still beat you.
