So it is your assertion that the motivation for leaving our border unsecured and a real-time, proven threat in a time of war is just a good state department "politics for business" move?
I beg your pardon, sir, but that makes absolutely no sense at all.
Clearly, the Federal Government doesn't see the open border as a security risk at this time. So the only conclusions are:
a) Al Qaeda is far weaker than we have been led to believe and no longer pose any real threat (the liberal argument.)
b) The Powers That Be are hoping for another attack so they can further expand government power through means like the Patriot Act (the moonbat argument.)
c) 9/11 was carried out on behalf of unnamed states (Pakistan/Iraq/China), which have been warned that thermonuclear retaliation will follow any additional action. China has neutered their Islamic radical hand puppets, a new detente has arisen, and the battle has shifted to the economic front - where the Powers That Be believe we need Mexico and its labor force in our camp at all costs to be victorious. China and Venezuela see Mexico as the next logical conquest (the argument conservatives don't want to accept).
Ignorance of border security isn't about GWB having a soft spot in his heart for for hardworking Mexican maids, yet that absurd argument gets made on FR all the time. Geopolitical chess is being played here, and the moves have thirty year time horizons.
