Spiff, why not concentrate on getting Mitt and the others to join Fred and Ron in opposing such a huge federal role to the problems of local schools?

Every candidate gets a plus from me when they put the boots to No Child's Left Behind.

Demanding that certain basic standards be met is a good thing. While Romney is generally supportive of Bush on this (as was Fred), he is pushing for more local control of those standards as well. The best of both worlds.

Governor Romney: "We all want to be successful based on our rhetoric, not actual, measurable results, and I'm afraid that in the world marketplace, our kids are only going to be successful based on their performance, and that requires measurement. I think the president was right to insist on measurement. I think the measurements themselves have a long way to be perfected, and a lot of room for improvement."

Romney called for "greater state flexibility in the (student) testing process."

Because Fred is being hypocritical here just like the Fredheads accusing Paul of supporting shrimp/earmark subsidies. Even though I like Fred and will no doubt support him if he's the nominee, I will not actively support him in the primaries. Part of the reason is the Fredheads trashing Paul, nevermind the fact that both Fred and Paul share the same belief of federalism. In fact, Fred was on the tail end of some 99-1 votes himself. He was the Ron Paul of the Senate.
