They might throw some of the tax money into public schools to improve them .....and pay for higher teacher's salaries and for more statewide enforcement of labor laws.....
bwahahahahahahahahahaa....
maybe we can get another democrat government program...like midnight basketball coaches and big brother/big sister to mentor future nipple people to stay in Michigan.
what a dump....
Try: locusts
If what you are saying is true--they need to hire MORE regulators called auditors or fraud investigators. These folks reside in the Inspector General's Office. The Dept. of Human Services (Social Services--Welfare) has approximately 10 auditors and 100 I.G. investigators.
Increasing the number of employees is not provided for in appropriations because the 'safety net' needs to be protected--just ask the Canadian. Could this also be the reason you never see any fraud being prosecuted?
The Day Care Provider program is open to rampant fraud and there are zero investigators.
Michigan needs to realize it can no longer offer one of the best welfare packages in the country and the Canadian needs to give up the safety net.
But then, government employees are a target of the general public. What the general public fails to understand is via government cut-backs and early outs, auditors and investigators have not been replaced.
Caseworkers are handling virtually unreasonable case loads due to lack of replacement of employees. This means processing higher case loads competes with time otherwise spent forwarding fraud investigations. Plain and simple: With fewer government employees comes fewer fraud investigations and fewer prosecutions.
This is just one example of an area that receive cuts. The cuts take place in the background where the general public is not inconvienced, i.e., heaven forbid if a person could not get a driver license because the Secretary of State's Office is closed due to lack of money. No politician wants to cut programs. They want to be reelected.
Michigan needs to adjust to the climate and set some priorities. I wish the State Journal would post every welfare client's name and the amount of money and other assistance they receive paid by the taxpayer on their web-page--just as they did for the government employees. This too is public information and should be available.
AMEN!
I'd like to add to that list -- each and every professor employed at public universities like UofM, Michigan, Wayne State, Eastern, etc. Their funding is primarily through taxpayers so THEIR salaries should be under scrutiny.
Along with the amount of time each professor actually spent in the classroom. The students pay for a professor not an assistant! I would also like to see every coach's name and their income published. I am sick of paying for new buildings on college campuses via subsidization. They should learn to live on what the school takes in which should include the sports money. Why should any college or university be allowed to take the sports money to build a stadium and then expect the taxpayer to subsidize them financially?
When the last person leaves Michigan, we should make it the country’s largest hunting preserve.
