Fundraiser's Legal Woes Dog Clinton Camp { Hillary's Hsu }
AP via SFGate ^ | 9/14/7 | JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Norman Hsu was the politicians' dream who became a nightmare. He knew people, hosted fundraisers, solicited donations. And he was an unabashed fan of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Now in disgrace, his role as one of Clinton's top money bundlers will dog him and her presidential campaign while law enforcement authorities investigate his business and political dealings.

Eager to sever her links to Hsu, the Clinton campaign this week returned $850,000 in contributions linked to his fundraising activities. But Hsu's troubles aren't over and the spotlight on his political connections won't recede easily.

Hsu is the latest poster boy for rogue fundraising, a man whose political shoulder rubbing reinvented him and then did him in. For Clinton, Hsu threatens to be an unwelcome reminder of the fundraising scandals that pursued her husband and the Democratic Party in the 1990s.

Joseph Birkenstock, a former general counsel for the Democratic National Committee, said it would be unfair to link her presidential campaign to 12-year-old instances of money laundering and Lincoln Bedroom sleepovers for major Democratic donors.

"But given her last name," he said, "the bar is somewhat higher for her politically than it would be for others."

Though Clinton was by far the biggest beneficiary of his fundraising, Hsu touched many with his largesse. Even Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, who is leading one investigation of Hsu, received $2,000 from Hsu during his last re-election campaign. His spokeswoman says the district attorney has put the money into an escrow account pending the outcome of the investigation.

Hsu sat on the board of trustees of The New School, whose president is former Sen. Bob Kerrey, D-Neb. He was co-chairman of a gala New York benefit last October in honor of the late Robert F. Kennedy. Bill Clinton, there to receive...

First Hillary said she doesn’t know the guy then she returns money to him .... and she also had a photo-op with the guy at a fund raiser .... I guess the Hsu is on the other foot now ... (couldn’t resist that) .....

Democrats don’t care. It’s THE CAUSE that matters. Anything for THE CAUSE.

I have been talking to Dems. They think Hill is wonderful and all this fundraising talk is just Republicans exaggerating things.

I'm willing to bet that she'll keep most of that money. Her campaign will probably call the donors and ask if they really want the money returned. If they say "no", the money will officially be linked to someone else's fundraising activities.

Large campaign donations is a way to buy access to a candidate. Hsu's disgrace will probably give the donors the access they want.

“Hsu sat on the board of trustees of The New School, whose president is former Sen. Bob Kerrey, D-Neb”

Kerrey was also a member of the 9-11 commission cover up for Clinton.

Vast right wing conspiracy? Hsu was a Rove plant?

“Those Hsu’s”

Tell us what you’re gonna do tonight, mama.
There must be someplace you can go
In the middle of the tall drinks and the drama,
there must be someone you know.

God knows, you’re lookin’ good enough,
but you’re so smooth and the world’s so rough.
You might have somethin’ to loose.
Oh, no, pretty mama, what you gonna
do with those Hsu’s?

Got those pretty little straps around your ankles
Got those shiny little chains around your heart.
You go to have your independence
but you don’t know just where to start.

Desperation in the singles bars
an’ all those jerkoffs in their fancy cars.
you can’t believe your reviews.

Oh, no, you can’t do that,
once you started wearin’ those Hsu’s.

They’re lookin’ at you, leanin’ on you
Tell you anything you want to hear
They give you tablets of love
They’re waiting for you
got to score you
handy with a shovel and so sincere
Ooh, they got the kid glove

You just want someone to talk to
They just wanna get their hands on you
You get whatever you choose
Oh, no, you can’t do that,
Once you started wearin’ those Hsu’s.

I was wondering how her handlers would treat this...old news, unfair to link her name with billyjeff's scandals, higher bar for her...blah blah blah...while she refuses to comment on her co-presidency and once again becomes a silent victim.

"Her campaign will probably call the donors and ask if they really want the money returned."

That may be difficult unless the Grifter's campaign staff can speak Mandarin Chinese. Jokes aside, I saw elsewhere that neither Hsu or good number of his bundled contributors were registered voters...

Of course, oilman Wyatt is going to jail for his business dealings in Iraq...and he’s likewise one of Hillary’s top campaign fundraisers.

Big Oil. Don’t lefty Dems just love Big Oil?!

Heck, we’re still a year away from the election...still in the early stages of primaries, and alredy Hillary is drowning in scandals.

The MSM will do exactly what is in this article - They will simply mention some associations without ever doing any investigation. They (the MSM) do not want to know too much and they have little interest in pursuing any details regardless of what those details may mean in the larger context.

Some questions the MSM will never ask:

1) Why did “Mr Woodstock” give a loan of 40 million dollars to this man? Did they even know each other before the money was given?
2) Where is the 40 million now? Who did it go to? Is it possible that money has also been secretly funneled to the Dem's through other, possibly similar, channels?
3) What exactly is the relationship between Hsu and Hillary? Did they in any way vett the money or Mr Hsu?
4) How many other middle class households were used to funnel money to the Dem's?

Just for starters anyway.

One of the lessons the Clintons taught me (and it was very hard for me to accept it), is that you don’t have to prove you are innocent to retain supporters. All you have to do is provide even the slimmest of plausible outs, and human nature will take over.

You see, nobody is faced with judging Bill or Hillary. You and I think of them cornered in a dead end ally. Yes they are cornered, but when the judgement needs to take place, they say, “Who are you going to believe, the evidence or those damned Republicans who are out to get us?

Instantly their followers forget about the charges and focus on the loathsome (in their eyes) right who can only be up to one thing, out to get their heroes. It’s as if sane people had just heard the code word of activation, turning them into blank stare, arms exented to the front, lurching zombies.

There are times when we act as blindly. It’s something we need to avoid at all cost. Whether the left or right is innoculated to corruption, when it is, trouble replicates itself momemt by moment.

The media needs to do it’s job here. Above all else, this shouldn’t become a partisain issue. If the media doesn’t do it’s job, Clinton may prevail next year. And if she does, I don’t like what is just ahead.

This is the woman behind the throne. This is the one who set up the bimbo squad, to silence women her husband had abused. This is the one who canned the White House travel staff. This is the one who knows where the bones are burried. This is the one who aspires to become queen for life.

Hugo, you wondered why the left doesn’t rail upon you. Meet Hillary Clinton, the United States version of you.
