Giuliani Ad: Clinton Turned Back on Troops

ABC News' Jan Simmonds Reports: The Rudy Giuliani presidential campaign launched their first Internet ad Friday targeting Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.

The web ad, entitled "She Changed," accuses the democratic frontrunner of changing her position on Iraq and "turning her back" on America's troops.

The tables turn on Giuliani on Monday when he becomes the subject of an ad by MoveOn.org, the anti-war advocacy group.

That ad, which will air in Iowa next week, accuses Giuliani of shirking his responsibilities while a member of the Iraq Study Group, formed by President Bush to offer suggestions on Iraq war policy.

A move that will win her high praise from her fellow dimRATs.

1) It’s good that a Republican turns their fire on Clinton. They all should.

2) Rudy needs to explain why he’s not going to a) outlaw guns, b) require abortion, and c) mandate gay marriage, etc.

We (conservatives) get it that Rudy will be good on the WOT and spending (if I can be so bold to speak for conservatives generally.) But we don’t believe we should have to sacrifice at least 1/3rd of core conservative positions (i.e. all social policy) for our nominee. That barely worked out for GWB when we thought he was only 10% wrong with that “compassionate” junk.

RUDY: Will you promise to govern as a thorough conservative? How can you prove that to us?

Keep pounding Hillary, but that’s what we really want to know. if you can’t make a convincing case, we will bury you.

I’m not a Guiliani fan, and the war is one of the few positions I agree with him on. I think he is right on the war, and I’m glad he stuck up to the Beast after she sided with that MoveOn.org add. Moveon.org is obviously ticked, and he now has a target on his back. I agree with his communications director that he’ll “wear it as a badge of honor”. I would too. I’m surprised they didn’t go after Hunter since he openly denounced their add at the hearing.

If you would get very specific about what you want done on these issues by a president in the next years, it would be better. They are not exactly raging hot buttom issues right now no matter how fundamental.

SAt the end of H$C tonight Alan Colmes came up with a very scurilous denunciation of Petraeus I have never seen before. Seems unlikely to me the Admiral would be chewing him out as an ass kisser in public in Bagdad, but that is the new charge. I presume that means an apology is not forthcoming.

I understand the concern about guns based on actions taken while he was mayor. But it is beyond me what he did while mayor that would make you think he would require women to have abortions--or force gays to get married.

Rudy has stated that he does not consider the firearm restrictions that he felt necessary in NYC to be appropriate at the national level. What else you want from him is just not clear to me.

"we will bury you"

That's completly outside "your" power. So called "values voters"...those who put abortion, gay marriage and related issues above all others...comprise, at most, 25% of the GOP. Granted, there are many more who will CONSIDER these issues along with others, like the Jihad.

Rudy can win the GOP nomination without winning a single southern state. If he cannot then convince you on the issues dear to your heart, will you not vote for him in November 2008?

No matter how they try to spin it, this part of the anti-Rudy ad does not bode well for him:

"The former mayor was asked to leave the prestigious committee because of his frequent absences. Rather than meeting his obligation to the group," read a statement about the ad by Eli Pariser, MoveOn.org Political Action's executive director. "Giuliani spent his time collecting high fees for speaking engagements all over the country ... when Rudy had the chance to support our troops, he left them high and dry. Now that's a true betrayal of trust."

Would so love to watch General Petraeus kick Colmes’ ass up one side the Green Zone and down the other.

Colmes is like so totally worthless. Because Hannity allows him his nightly bully pulpit, Colmes thinks he’s the general’s equal. And he’s not. Gen. Petraeus should do like they accused Gen. Patton of, kicking his worthless ass with an iron boot. Over and over.

Hillary hasn’t changed one darn bit. Like Bill, always runs with polls. Double jawed. How many military bases did Bill shut down? Didn’t Hillary voted to go into Iraq?

She’s failed to deliver jobs as promised to New Yorkers yet is still on the payroll and yet, is never there. She failed to deliver her pet health care project after 8 years when Bill was busy taking personal favors instead of national security. And yet, thanks to bias liberal media, she’s the greatest thing since white bread.

Clinton voters = Gumby

I will say that Giuliani isn’t afraid to put up a fight with Hillary. That may be his best campaign strategy.

I like Fred Thompson, but I don’t think he would fight as hard as Giuliani in a one on one with Hillary.

With me, Rudy’s biggest detractor is that he is like Bush on illegal immigration.

I don’t like what Bush has done on illegal immigration and I want a president to take a strong stance against it.

I’m not a big fan of Rudy, but I do want to thank him for once again focusing our attention on the real enemy Hillary and all the Democrats that are joined at the hip with Move-On.org. Rudy has started something, most of the rest of the GOP candidates are following his lead with there own comments that are making news.

Now I wish us Freepers would do the same. Stop bashing each others favorite candidate, and focus out attention on keeping a candidate with a dept owed to Move-On.org out of the White House.

i.e. all social policy

"Social policy" shouldn't be a part of government, anyway. Protect the country, deliver the mail, and get out of the way.

Amen! It's getting way too childish around here.
