This is from off one of my political groups I belong to. This was exactly what I predicted last year. Many Republicans were adamant about supporting his reelection efforts, but were he the 50th "Republican" in the Senate to have won last November, I doubt he would've remained by the time of the January organization and would've pulled this Jeffords move. It was one reason Mayor Laffey was the only viable choice in last year's GOP primary. Ultimately, as the RI voters demonstrated that when there's a choice between an ultraliberal RINO with a voting record identical to Hillary Clinton's and an authentic liberal Dem, they'll go with the real deal.

Lincoln Chafee is not a name we ever need to concern ourselves with again.

I just don’t see how losing his seat to the ‘dems’ will even make any real difference? Good riddance.

Isn't this similar to the "has-been" theory?
One has to "have been" to be a "no longer"?
In other words was he really ever in the GOP in the first place?

It means the Dems can’t pretend anymore that it’s a Republican seat. They sometimes get mileage out of “ it was a Republican who did it” when they mean a flaming RINO came down on their side on some issue to the surprise of nobody except the MSM.
An outed fifth column RINO doesn't help the Dems with the sheeple because even a complete moron knows that these days someone who calls themselves an Independent is really a Democrat.

We all saw this coming a mile away. Better to do it here and not in the senate.
