• the OST treaty does not ban the U.S or any other country from putting weapons into orbit, as long as the weapons are for peaceful purposes.

  It's a shame the 1967 UN Outer Space Treaty is being kept around because of the (ineffective) weapons provision when it is blocking private property ownership and resource development in outer space.
