President Bush has settled on retired federal judge Michael B. Mukasey to replace Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General, two sources familiar with the decision said Sunday.
The appointment of Mukasey, 66, considered a law-and-order conservative and authority on national security issues, could come as early as Monday morning, the sources said.

That’s interesting, as well. What do you make if him?
I can not believe that the man I voted for twice, seems to cares more about Mexicans than Americans.
There are way too many kool aid drinkers out there. Bush is a good man, but he is flat out wrong on so many issues that matter to the average American.
Thank you, JV ... you always bring reality and perspective to the table. God bless you ... ;)
Rooty-RINO...
My instinct over him is unsettling. rudy supporter and legal adviser. Knowing rudys opinions on gun control, sanctuary cities, gay marriage to name three, I'm wary.
The candidate surrounds themselves with like minded staff. What stalwart anti abortion candidate would have someone like say, Margaret Sanger(spe?) as part of their inner circle?
It looks like he was chosen because he was the path of least resistance. Not that his morale standing was good, or his character unstained. But simply because he wouldn't cause much of a problem for the dims and leftist.
An AG isn't selected because you don't want to ruffle too many feathers.
I don't know. I've yet to find out if he shares rudy's opinions on gun control.
The AG has little to do with borders security.
Were you born this stupid?
If you don't know her, you'll be surprised.
Anytime FRiend, just stating simple facts. I asked those folks what do you think this AG will do so bad for the nation in the next 15 months but they could not answer so they jumped into illegal immigration and borders security issue which fall under the department of homeland security not with the justice department. It unfortunate that some people on this forum are blinded by their hate to the President and they are not very smart on the top of that.
True, but the AG has the Presidents ear on many issues. Boarder security is also a law enforcement issue.
Most of the people on FR VOTED for Bush. We do not hate him.
If you're going to badmouth me, and my friends, and feel complete freedom in NOT ping us, you should at least state the truth about what it is I said, and who brought up the border issue....that be YOU, not me.
Perhaps a recap might help you, though you claim to be the one with a superior intellect.
180 To: nicmarloNow, how'd that go again? I "jumped into illegal immigration and borders security issue which fall under the department of homeland security not with the justice department"????? foflol. You're so blinded in your worship, you can't even keep your own posts straight. YOU are the one who keeps bringing up the AG and "the department of homeland security, the border patrol policy", etc., etc., etc.
He cannot do anything negative or positive on this issue in particular that this guy is going to serve 15 months only.

An AG can bring his bias and persuasion and has the presidents ear, I could care for how long or whether hes in history books. Thats worth plenty in my book.by nicmarlo
NOPE......no border comment there.

Your book is that of silliness and shallowness. The AG takes his orders from the President and no one else. What do you expect this AG will do so bad in the next 15 months? Let me hear you crazy conspiracy theories.by jveritas191 To: jveritas
Id say you wrote the book on shallowness. As for the rest, I cant help it if you prefer being an ostrich. Lifes easier that way, aint it?NOPE.......no border comment there.

Yes he is a legal adviser to Guiliani and I am sure he will not be in this role one he is AG.
The President chose him because he agrees with him on the war on terror and it is easier to pass him in a democrat control senate.by jveritas

See Borax Queens commentary to you on the so-called War on Terror.
To that I can only add ditto.by nicmarlo
NOPE......no border comment there, except to your commenting on the president's (NOT the AG's) "War on Terror" and my reference back to BQ's remark in agreement with what HE is doing.
I brought up: 1) Janet Reno because, according to you, apparently an AG could be Mickey Mouse as far as you're concerned as to his importance and worth; 2) Johnny Sutton, who should be disbarred for prosecutorial misconduct, AND 3) Compean and Ramos, who were victims of Gonzales' Justice Department's despicable behavior of doing nothing and Gonzales' remembering about as when he was under oath........AFTER you didn't like my very first post:
the AG has the president's ear, along with bias, and that goes a long way in my book."
Still does, no matter how much you misrepresent my posts.
I’ll be waiting breathlessly for his reply. ;
Of course I'm a smoker and can't be breathless for too long.
foflol.
Don’t get breathless...the response, if it’s forthcoming at all, won’t be worth it, I’m sure.
LOL
the response, if its forthcoming at all, wont be worth it, Im sure.
As am I.
Interesting.
Reid's just the man I'd want covering my back. /s
