This is what I think may be going on:

Bush is well aware that the Dems will hate anyone anyway, whether he's on an 'approved' list or not. Dems are hypocrites no matter what. But Bush wants an AG right now, and doesn't want a protracted fight for the good of the country. I think it's really that simple. Mukasey doesn't seem like a bad choice at all. I liked Olson as well. It doesn't seem like a Harriot Miers nomination. I think just take a breath and see what this guy is made of when he speaks.

I admit Bush has taken a lot of crap off the Dems for the "Good of the Country." I don't know what the answer is, but I think a good fight wouldn't be a bad thing. The whole New Tone thing was for the good of the country, and we can all see what a good thing that turned out to be. He let the Clintons slide on all sorts of things, just to protect the office of the President, but damn, I don't think letting Sandy Burger walk was for the good of the country. He wants to legalize millions of illegal immigrants for the good of the country. We are supposed to be a nation of laws, and you can't judge criminals to be OK just because it is for the good of the country. Enforcing the laws of the country would be for the good of the country.

I agree. Lets wait and see what he has to say before we react.

I agree. I would have preferred Olson, but despite all the dirt people are trying to dig up on this guy here on FR, he really sounds okay. He has a conservative reputation.

SCOTUS is something to fight about. AG....not so much. As long as they are okay, that’s good enough.

I think I'd rather look at his record.

Liberals and RINOs often speak with forked tongue.

I am keeping an open mind. I despise that Chuck Schumer. I wish he would go away!
