Artificial or heroic treatment, yes. But a patient, dying or not must still be fed and given water and cared for. No one wants to prolong suffering but it is forbidden to hasten death. The latter is murder.

AS I recall, in the Pope’s final days, he did allow a feeding tube to be inserted nasally... I think he wanted to show the world what needs to be done for a dying person (food and water) — good contrast as to what had just happened to Terri Schiavo (court-sanctioned euthanasia).
