I agree. Since when did being obnoxious become some kind of offense that deserves tasering. No threats were made, tacit or otherwise. He wasn’t going crazy. He’s just a young guy that believes that way a lot of young people believe (wrongly) and I thought this was pretty creepy.

Just think what could happen if this country ends up really leftist and who’ll all be getting tasered - yeah, Freepers for sure will be on that list.

I saw the video. That kid was lucky I wasn’t the cop that arrested him. The first time he jerked his arm away from me he would have been rudely introduced to the floor.

Or rendered unconscious.

As far as I’m concerned the police department can take their girlie tazer back. And viewing that tape, the use of the tazer would have fallen directly into what our policy calls for. They don’t want us putting our hands on people anymore.

Bring back the good old days.

As one guy told me that I had to use pepper spray on (the last latest and greatest police gadget) “A real cop would have hit me with his stick.”

AMEN! Frankly, I'm shocked at how many Freepers are for his being tazered. I could see myself doing the same thing at 21 (only with conservative issues). What crime did he commit? They began trying to stop him at the mic in his first minute of speaking. That's ridiculous. It's not like he was drunk, cussing, or calling Kerry names.

Can someone be arrested without being given his miranda rights? Where IS the Constitution???

I'm sure our founding fathers would have said to let him speak. If he makes an arse of himself, so be it.

What Kerry was thinking as the perpetrator was hauled out...

I feel pretty damn good. I'd forgotten what it was like not to be the biggest jerk in the room.

hi guys. I’d like to clarify something here.

You are not seeing the complete story. First of all, the student group that hosted this event is extremely anal retentive when it comes to time and sticking to a schedule. That said, this guy was supposedly issued out of the hall at the beginning of the forum because he was being unruly. Let’s face it. There is a certain decorum that we all should abide by at a public function (this was not a rally) and the host clearly has the option to toss out anyone it does not want to be there. Nonetheless, the guy comes back in. Kerry spoke and then the students were told that they could line up and ask questions. They were given five minutes.

Meyers jumps up and grabs the mic from the girl in line and says “Here, take my camera and film this,” which she does. It is the film you have all been watching on the news.

He begins his tyraid never completely asking a question of Kerry. The moderators of the group, not the police, shut off his mic. The moderators told him his time was up. He then says no, he has two more questions to ask and he had not even really asked the 1st. The police were being very gingerly with him - politically correct if you will. Trust me - one of those big burly cops could have laid him on his keester if he had wanted to but they were simply trying to remove him for his disruption. THE GUY HAD A CHANCE TO SPEAK AND HIS 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS WERE NOT INFRINGED UPON. (emphasis only). He chose to turn the forum into his own agenda.

The cops told him 4 times - we do not want to arrest you, but you mustleave. Settle down or we will have to taser you. 4 times, folks, he was warned. He continued to thrash around and act like a fool. He got what they promised him. Keep in mind, however, that he was capable of walking 2 seconds later. Once removed he rants about how the government has him and that the government is going to kill him. Clearly a nut job.

This guy planned this outburst. His cries for help were not “real”. This guy loves to bring attention to himself and his website clearly shows this. While it is not against the law to be an a$$ there are laws against disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.

I pose a question - had this kid snuck in a knife in his shoe and the cops did nothing - and this idiot had stabbed someone - the kids would be all over the cops ‘why didn’t they do something?’ Our law enforcement officers do the best they can. They have to be so damned politically correct that they cannot do their jobs efficiently.

I am heartbroken over the division in this country over right and wrong. Did the cops go overboard? Maybe. Maybe not. This guy certainly was not helping the situation. Even afterwards, the cops were incredibly nice to him and he kept going on and on but most of you don’t see that part.

I know the girl very, very well (22 years too well) that posted this video for all of you to see. She called me as she was leaving the hall to tell me what she witnessed. The camera she shot this with is Andrew’s. She is a far-left wing liberal, I am a staunch conservative. She and I are having a very big argument over this as is her sister and I - she feels his freedoms were trampled on - I feel he brought it on himself. Had he conducted himself properly he would not have had a problem. But I guess even 21 year olds in this country do not have to be responsible for their actions. It is always someone else’ fault even when they instigated the problem. Again, we are big, bad fascist America where people don’t have a right to speak and cops are the most brutal specs of human waste on the planet. hmmm. I forgot. *sarc*.

yes, someone can be arrested without being read their rights. They at first were trying to escort him out, they they were trying to detain him. He resisted. They then tried to put him in handcuffs to remove him and he’s thrashing about. They can’t wack him on the head, they can’t shoot him, they can’t use other force so they use the only other thing that they had - a taser, thinking that if he felt that he’d calm down. He didn’t.

It is my understanding from other students who followed him out of the hall that his rights were read to him as he was being taken out of the hall and actually under arrest.

thank you for your insight. I didn't know he was taken out once for being disruptive--that definitely sets a totally different perspective here.

My original take was, "yeah, he's a liberal jerk looking for attention, but he should've been given a chance..." Now that it's obvious he was told to leave and came back in, I understand why they tried to stop him when he first got on the mic.

Just the same, I think the police played into his hands brilliantly by tazering him. They should've offered him a beer...

They should have just called in one of the football players to take care of him.
