A whole week, Keith??

Wow, you're my hero!

Keith could stand to lose at least 25 lbs.

Hey Ellison, Islam says you have to give your money to the poor. I didn’t read anything about stealing it from others to give to the poor.

"They, and others, plan to live for a week on $21 -- the national average for food stamp benefits."

Oh BS. My ex's current wife has a full time job and two kids that don't live at home (though they claim they do) and she gets a couple of hundred dollars in food stamps a month. If the national average was $21.00 per person per month @ four people, that is $84.00. NOT the couple of hundred they get.

Food stamps are supposed to supplement. Not “feed”.

Along that same line.....Where I live in Ohio is saturated with Democrats. Last month out County officials (Dems) pulled a publicity stunt to make people aware of how hard it is to exist on food stamps. The officials lived for a month on what the average food stamp recipient does, saying its hard to get nutritious meals on the low food stamp funding.
They are trying to get more $$$ for people on food stamps. i.e. buy more votes. I work in a store that takes food stamps, what they purchase is pop candy chips easter baskets energy drinks etc. They average about $12 a day in 100% junk food. Yet, here we have are tax and spend Democrat leaders trying to give these people more $$$~!! While the bias media helps with the daily barrage of sob stories. Its disgusting. (and sadly, its working)

An inner-city "poor" family could eat all the rice and beans they wanted for $21 a week and have enough left over to to buy a dozen lottery tickets.

Half the world subsides on a staple diet of rice and beans, but it would be too demeaning to expect U.S. "poor" people to do so.

One of the goals is to raise the minimum food stamp benefit.

And the other goal is to have all of us standing in bread lines so everyone gets an equal amount.

Multiply that by 5 for a family, and you have over $100 a week.

I figure you have oatmeal, toast, or cereal and a banana for breakfast.

You have a plain homemade sandwich (peanut butter & jelly, egg salad, etc) and a piece of fruit for lunch.

Then you save the rest for dinner. You can buy bulk rice & beans to use for lots of meals. You can buy bulk hamburger and make tons of spaghetti and other meals.

You can buy a whole chicken for dinner, and then you can use the bones to make a good brother for the next day.

I think it would be hard for 1 person to live on $21 a day, but easier for a family of 5 to live on $100 a week.

However, a single person could always get together with others on food stamps and split purchases. Instead of buying a dozen eggs a week, they split it with another person.

Plus, there are lots of buy one get one free at the grocery store. If you always take advantage of that.

There is only one outcome that should come from this! And that is the desire for the person to think: "Geeee... this sucks, I need to work harder and put forth more effort in life so that I don't have to live on the dole!"
