WASHINGTON -- Sen. George V. Voinovich is calling for a "responsible reduction" in the number of U.S. troops in Iraq as part of a plan the Ohio Republican is touting as a bipartisan way forward on war policy.
But the withdrawal of U.S. troops cannot be "precipitous" and the U.S. will be "engaged" in Iraq for the "foreseeable future," reads the resolution that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee member is unveiling today, though he may not yet formally introduce the measure.
Voinovich, a frequent critic of President Bush's handling of the war, has been keeping relatively quiet about Iraq since an August trip to the war-torn nation.
His staff says he has been meeting with Democrats and Republicans in the Senate while trying to breach differences between Democrats who want a hard deadline for pulling troops out of Iraq and Republicans who don't want to tie Bush's hands with mandated withdrawal numbers and dates.

Sometimes I am ashamed, due to Voinovich, to be a product of Ohio,
and then I remember that I now live in California, source of Barbara Boxer.

Did he sob about his grandchildren while he issued this statement?
I heard that Bin Laden wants to cut his grandchildren’s heads off.
Voinovich is being blackmailed by the Left...They got some serious dirt on him. He’s circling the bowl...and good riddance.
