So called??

Was he armed or not? If so, what possible reason can he put forth for being armed along with other thugs?

If there was no robbery or intent then he would not have been armed.
How many legitimate business deals do you go to armed?

Nevada, like your home state of Florida, is "shall-issue" for concealed carry permits. It's very difficult to decide when to carry or not carry, and if carrying is not inconvenient, then some carry virtually all the time.

The presence of the firearms, in and of itself, may not have been a crime, assuming that the possessor was not a prohibited person.

But actually drawing the weapon, lacking a reasonable belief that one is threatened with great bodily harm or death, is quite likely a crime. Also, taking the weapon to the scene with the intention of using it makes the possession a crime, probably. Most permit laws likely only "permit" carrying for lawful purposes.
