United Way is nothing short of corporate extortion. While working for Fifth Third Bancorp in the early 1990’s I was informed if I didn’t contribute ‘my fair share’ which came to almost $2,000 on against a total salary of $17,500 I would risk hurting my career.

I donated five dollars one time, and left that ridiculous corporation soon thereafter.

I ran into the same thing at a major corporation. All managers filled out the donation cards and sent them in. Upper management sent all the donation cards back to the managers and told them to “seriously reconsider their donations.”

I agree....strong arms....when I was a broker at Shearson, I was the only one in the office that refused to give them a damn dime....when they shut off the boy scouts in favor of homosexuals...that told me ALL I needed to know about that scumbag organization....
