Yep, wind and rain are definitely picking up now.

My kid doesn’t have any classes on Friday and he’s hoping it moves out into the Gulf and creates some surf so he and his friends can go skimboarding. I really haven’t been paying attention, other than hearing from a friend in Jacksonville who tells me that they’ve had horrendous rain for the last couple days.

I’ve had a lot fewer problems with grubs and slugs this year since the mole moved in. Other than making the yard a bit boggy, he really hasn’t been a bother at all. I’ll miss him.

I’ll be interested to hear if they find some good surf tomorrow.

I guess it’ll all depend if it moves completely into the Gulf. Right now our winds are coming from the east. I’ll let you know.

Current Tampa radar (2120UTC).

Did this sucker slow down? I haven't been paying much attention. Looks like she's trying to tighten up too.

Eeewww!!! They are such nasty critters. Grabbed one last spring while digging in the garden...screamed like a woman!

I can’t figure out what is where with this system. All is know is that the clouds outside look tropical.

We’ve actually had a nice day here in Orlando today. But it “feels” tropical. Not quite hurricane type, but more muggy than usual.

It looks like it might be lucky to get a name at this point.

Thanks for checking in. This is one strange weather system. The clouds really have the tropical storm formation. However, as VVV said, it’s not nearly as humid. Temps have been cooler the last couple of days too (from low 90ºs down to low-mid 80ºs). Along with some much welcome rain, not bad at all.

Better any kind of mole than any kind of snake.

It looks like it might be lucky to get a name at this point.

Which is why they name subtropical storms now.

Mole Family
A papa mole, a mama mole, and a baby mole all live together
in a little mole hole.

One day, papa mole sticks
his head
out of the hole, sniffs the air
and said,
"Yum! I smell maple syrup!"

The mama mole sticks her head
out of the hole,
sniffs the air and said,
"Oh, Yum! I smell honey!"

Now baby mole is trying
to stick his head
out of the hole to sniff the air,
but can't
because the bigger moles
are in the way.
This makes him whine,
"Geez, all I can smell is....

.

.

.

MOLASSES!

Ha! This was the first time I was up close and personal with a mole. I did a double take before figuring out which end was the molasses. The eyes were covered with fur, the fur is amazingly fluffy, and it stands straight out, rather having a nap. The nose is bigger than the tail, and both are pink. Those front paws are just like paddles.

We've never had moles, possums and skunks though.

Ya'll keep your heads down over there!

He was only about 5” long. I wondered if he was washing the dirt from under his nails, and fell in the pool...or that he just didn’t see the pool because he was blind, and fell in...or maybe a predatory bird dropped him while flying over the pool. We’ll never know.

I’m watching just came inside- it’s unreal- thousands of lightning strikes..it’s wild out there...looks like the 4th of July.

Mt Dora, Tavares, Zellwood and Eustis about to get it.

It looks to be going tropical now... I think it will be named and probably become a moderate to strong tropical storm, maybe pulling another Humberto type strengthening.

The past two seasons we have seen good reminders that you need more than warm water to get these things cooking. I think many expect every swirl over the ocean to become a monster storm these days.
